Sunjae Won is an Assistant Professor of Production Econometrics in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology at Auburn University.
His research focuses on production risks, crop insurance, and farmer decision-making, emphasizing the use of big data analytics to improve on-farm profitability. He conducts empirical evaluations of agricultural practices such as irrigation systems and crop rotation, applying advanced econometric methods to examine how policy frameworks and producer behavior interact. His work integrates large-scale datasets—including satellite imagery, administrative records, and experimental plot-level observations—to quantify the economic impact of management decisions and support data-driven strategies that enhance farm-level returns while managing risk.
Mr. Won earned a PhD. in Agricultural Economics from NC State University(Raleigh), MA. in Economics from Boston University(Boston), and BA. in Economics and Finance from Hanyang University(Seoul). Prior to joining his doctorate program, he had worked at a Korean government agency, Korea Development Institute (KDI) in South Korea.
Currently, he has a beautiful artist as a life companion, Chansong Woo and an adorable boy, Woori.
