A Few Helpful Tips
Some tips to help create a memorable and fun season!
Designate your team's Game Changer scorekeeper!!!
We appreciate you as a coach, but it is tough to keep score while you are coaching. Finding a Game Changer scorekeeper will be a tremendous help to you.
Find a team-parent
The team-parent can be a great help for all things season and game day related. They can help hang banners, keep track of the snack list, help with team raffle baskets in the spring season, and so much more!
Create a player/parent snack schedule for post-game treats.
Picture Day
Every year in the Spring season there is a Sidewinder Little League Picture Day. This is an event where players get individual and team photos. The team photos taken on these days are used in the plaques that are given to our sponsors.
The date of picture day will be relayed to you by the board and/or your player agent
Communicate the information about picture day to your team and their parents
Add the date, location, and time to Game Changer
Coaches will be given order packets.
Prior to picture day, collect envelops and payments. Put them into the provided envelope with correct names and picture packages indicated on the envelope.
Opening Day Ceremonies (ODC)
Every spring, as the new season approaches, Sidewinder Little League proudly presents its beloved Opening Day Ceremonies. It's a joyous occasion, uniting families and teams in an electrifying kickoff celebration. Each team joins the festive ODC Parade, proudly displaying their team banner. Following the parade, our league's President takes the stage to inaugurate the season with the singing of the National Anthem, the recitation of the Little League pledge, and the eagerly awaited first pitch, marking the official start of an exciting season ahead!
Before ODC – collect $20+/- from each player.
The $20 each will go towards the ODC banner, raffle basket, and any leftovers towards the end-of-the-year party. (This is a great task for a team-parent)
ODC is usually held at Paloma Baseball fields.
Concessions are available, but are often very slow and all ordered items have a very long wait time.
Teams, families and parents are allowed to bring food, some teams choose to do a potluck style picnic. These are allowed, and encouraged; however there can be no grills brought to the park.
Please assure me that you have created and received your team banner. (The team banner should have a team name, coaches' names, players' names, and sponsor. Be creative and have fun with this!!!)
Many teams order their banners from Cleats Sports
If you don't want to design your own banner Cleats has been a long time partner with Sidewinder Little League, and they can help you create your banner.
You can create your own banner and order from any company you choose, we just want to make sure you have it ready for ODC
Create a basket to be raffled off. Be fun and creative with your basket. All money goes back to the league!
Each team should have a basket to raffle off at ODC.
Some sponsors choose to provide the team raffle basket, some sponsors choose to provide an additional basket to be raffled off for the league.
Once ODC is announced – upload the day, time, and location in Game Changer
Teams are highly encouraged to have a sun tent for their team to gather, regroup, enjoy shade and display their banners.
