Location: Aula RAA-G-01, Rämistrasse 59, Zürich, https://www.plaene.uzh.ch/RAA/room/RAA-G-01, https://goo.gl/maps/bhwpEJrankC2
This summer school is for the ESRs in switchBoard, to help them do better experiments, data analysis, and science in their own work.
09:30 – 09:45 Welcome
Tobi Delbruck & Gemma Taverni, Hosting Partner
09:45 – 10:45 Benjamin Grewe (Prof., Institute of Neuroinformatics)
Imaging neuronal activity in the rodent brain
10:45 – 11:00 Coffee Break
11:00 – 11:45 Clemens Boucsein, (Multi Channel Systems - Head of Hardware Development)
Pitfalls of electrophysiological measurements
11:45 – 13:00 Lunch
13:00 – 14:00 Benjamin Ehret (PhD student, Institute of Neuroinformatics)
Mini-microscopes tutorial and data
14:00 – 15:00 Valerio Mante (Prof., Institute of Neuroinformatics)
Visual information path, from the retina to the visual cortex
15:00 – 15:30 Coffee Break
15:30 – 16:30 EJ Chichilnisky (Prof., Stanford)
"The dark underbelly of deciphering retinal circuitry", or "Things I Wish I had Known", or most precisely: “Large scale MEA recordings from primate retina for deciphering visual system function”
I will describe how large-scale multi-electrode recordings give insight into the exquisite and precise functional organization of the visual system, with plenty of time to discuss the many technical issues involved in such work.
