SwingTrace ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information — When you create an account, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name. This is used solely to authenticate you and identify your data.
Shot Data — We store metadata about your traced shots — club selection, carry distance, hang time, and tracer settings. Videos are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly share them.
Profile Photos — If you choose to set a profile picture, that photo is uploaded to and stored on our cloud storage provider (Supabase) so it can sync across your devices. This is different from shot videos, which stay on your device — a profile photo you select is the one type of media SwingTrace does upload.
Location Data — The GPS Range Finder feature uses your device's precise location, while the feature is open, to show your position on a satellite map and to calculate the distance to a point you tap. Your coordinates are used to request map imagery from our satellite map provider (Esri) and are processed on your device to calculate distances — we do not store your GPS location history on our servers. Location access is only requested when you open the Range Finder.
Usage Data — We track basic aggregate feature usage — such as the number of shots you have traced and how often you use the GPS Range Finder — to enforce free plan limits, manage Pro subscriptions, and understand which features are useful. We do not use third-party ad tracking, and we do not build behavioural profiles of individual actions.
2. Camera, Microphone & Location
SwingTrace requests access to your camera and microphone solely to record your golf swing videos. We do not access your camera or microphone at any other time. Recorded videos remain on your device and are never automatically uploaded.
SwingTrace requests access to your location solely to power the GPS Range Finder feature. We do not access your location in the background or at any other time.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
Provide and maintain the SwingTrace service
Enforce your free shot limit and Pro subscription status
Restore your account and shot history if you reinstall the app
Respond to support requests
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your account data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit (TLS). Videos and shot data are stored locally on your device using your device's secure storage.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.
5. Third-Party Services
SwingTrace uses the following third-party services:
Supabase — authentication, cloud database, and photo storage (supabase.com)
Expo / React Native — app framework (expo.dev)
RevenueCat — manages Pro subscription purchases and status (revenuecat.com)
Esri — provides satellite map imagery for the GPS Range Finder (esri.com)
Each provider has their own privacy policy governing their data practices.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Export your shot data

7. Children's Privacy
SwingTrace is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of SwingTrace after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
