Coach Sam Matthews is an experienced pitching coach dedicated to helping young athletes develop their skills, confidence, and understanding of the game. A native of St. Johnsbury, Coach Sam attended St. Johnsbury Academy before pitching for four years at the NCAA Division III level at Lyndon State College, where he earned a degree in Physical Education.
Coach Sam has more than a decade of collegiate coaching experience, including 10 years as a pitching coach at Vermont State University Lyndon and one year at Colby-Sawyer College. He also served for three years as the head coach of Team Vermont in the New England Showcase League. Throughout his career, he has attended coaching clinics and conferences across New England and New York while learning from successful coaches at every level.
His pitching instruction focuses on proper mechanics, arm strength and conditioning, command, and mental preparation. Coach Sam believes in simplifying the fundamentals, developing healthy habits, and helping each athlete become more confident both on and off the mound. His structured, age-appropriate approach meets pitchers where they are and helps them work toward their individual goals.
Coach Antonia Perretti brings more than 10 years of softball coaching and instructional experience to Swing Sportsplex. She currently serves as the Head Softball Coach at Vermont State University Lyndon, where she leads the NCAA Division III program and oversees recruiting, player development, training, game strategy, and team operations.
Throughout her career, Coach Antonia has worked with athletes at the recreational, high school, club, and collegiate levels. Her coaching experience includes serving as a varsity head coach, junior varsity head coach, and head coach for several competitive 14U and 16U club programs. She has also provided individual and small-group instruction focused on hitting, catching, fielding, pitching, and overall skill development.
Coach Antonia takes a supportive, athlete-centered approach to instruction. She meets players where they are, helps them strengthen their fundamentals, and creates individualized training plans based on their goals and abilities. Her lessons emphasize proper technique, confidence, consistency, game knowledge, and a positive mental approach.
A graduate of Framingham State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Coach Antonia is passionate about helping athletes of all ages and experience levels grow both on and off the field. Whether a player is new to the game, preparing for an upcoming season, or looking to compete at a higher level, Coach Antonia provides knowledgeable, encouraging instruction designed to help each athlete succeed.

Coach Bob brings more than 45 years of baseball and softball coaching experience, working with athletes from Little League through the collegiate level. He specializes in developing catchers and hitters, with an emphasis on strong fundamentals, proper mechanics, mental preparation, and game awareness.
His extensive coaching background includes serving as an Assistant Baseball Coach and Catching Coach at the University of New Hampshire, Head Junior Varsity Baseball Coach at Kingswood Regional High School, and Assistant Softball Coach at Endicott College. Throughout his career, Coach Bob has helped athletes strengthen their skills, build confidence, and deepen their understanding of the game.

With a lifelong passion for baseball and extensive experience as both a player and coach, Jason Goguen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to every lesson.
He played college baseball and served as team captain during his senior year before continuing his playing career with two years of amateur baseball in Albany, New York. He was selected to a national team and spent a month traveling throughout Europe, competing in tournaments before signing a contract to play professionally overseas. During his time abroad, he compiled an impressive 12–2 record before suffering a rotator cuff injury in his final game.
After surgery, life took him in a different direction, but his passion for the game never left. He went on to coach varsity baseball for two years and earned the opportunity to participate in tryouts with three different MLB organizations. For more than 10 years, he has also provided private baseball instruction, helping players develop their skills, confidence, and understanding of the game.
Today, he continues to share his knowledge and love for baseball with the next generation of athletes through individualized instruction and coaching.
Professionally, he currently oversees the Caledonia and Essex County courts, a position he has held for nearly two years. Prior to that, he spent 10 years operating 10-14 methadone clinics throughout New England, bringing strong leadership, management, and mentorship experience to both his professional and coaching roles.

With more than 35 years of coaching experience, Coach Bell has worked with athletes at every level—from Little League through the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Throughout his career, he has guided several teams to New England Regional Tournaments and coached teams in the 13-, 14-, and 15-year-old divisions to Babe Ruth Vermont State Championship titles.
A lifelong baseball player and coach, one of his career highlights was representing Castleton University in the 1992 All-Star Game, where he earned the win after pitching two scoreless innings.
Coach Bell takes great pride in helping young athletes reach their full potential, prepare to compete, and develop a lasting passion for baseball. Through focused skill development and a positive mental approach, he helps players build the confidence and preparation needed for success on game day.
