If you want for kids bluetooth that can handle a full lap of the pool without a single drop of water getting inside, choose Swimbuds Sport Waterproof Swimming; if you need open ear headphones for work or a versatile pair of true wireless earbuds for pc use during your daily commute, choose Drawup Neckband Headphones. These two devices solve completely different problems, and picking the wrong one leaves you with either a headphone that won't turn on in the water or a waterproof unit that is useless on dry land. I have analyzed the specifications and design intent of both to help you make a decision based purely on what they are built to do, not on marketing fluff or vague promises.
• Swimbuds Sport: The undisputed champion for underwater audio with an IPX8 rating and a low-drag short cord designed specifically for swimming laps; its trade-off is that it requires a wired connection to a music player and offers no Bluetooth connectivity.
• Drawup Neckband: A versatile wireless option featuring CSR 4.1 technology for stable streaming and an IPX4 rating that handles sweat and splashes; its trade-off is that it cannot be submerged in water and lacks the specialized seal required for swimming.
• Who Swimbuds is for: Competitive swimmers, triathletes, and anyone who needs reliable audio while fully submerged in a pool or open water.
• Who Drawup is for: Runners, gym-goers, and commuters who prioritize wireless freedom and long battery life over submersion capabilities.
The Swimbuds Sport is not a general-purpose headphone; it is a specialized tool engineered for one specific environment: deep water. If you are looking for a device that will survive being dunked repeatedly, this is the only choice on the market that matches that requirement. This is a critical distinction because most "waterproof" headphones only claim resistance to rain or sweat, whereas the Swimbuds is designed for actual submersion. The construction includes a watertight seal and reinforced cords that are meant to endure the rigors of daily swim sessions without failing.

What sets this model apart from generic water-resistant gear is the attention to hydrodynamics. It features a low-drag short cord optimized at approximately 15 inches (40cm). In competitive swimming, drag is the enemy, and a long cable that flutters behind you slows you down. This short-cord design eliminates tangles and reduces resistance, allowing you to focus on your stroke rather than fighting your equipment. Furthermore, the package includes 11 pairs of eartips across four different styles. This extensive variety is essential because ear canal shapes vary wildly. You need to find a seal that is secure enough to stay in place during a flip-turn but comfortable enough to wear for hours. The inclusion of a zip case ensures your gear stays protected when it isn't in your ears.
You should buy the Swimbuds Sport if you are a serious swimmer who wants to listen to music or audiobooks while training. It is also an excellent head phones gift for teens who are taking swimming seriously, as the durability is unmatched. However, you must skip this product if you need wireless freedom. The Swimbuds relies on a wired connection via a 3.5mm jack. While the connectivity technology section lists Bluetooth, the physical reality of the device is a hard-wired solution for underwater transmission. If you try to use this outside of the water with a phone that doesn't have a headphone jack, you will need an adapter, and you lose the benefit of the waterproof design entirely. It is a niche tool for a niche activity.
The Drawup Neckband Headphones take a different approach by prioritizing versatility and wireless convenience. Designed for active lifestyles on land, these earbuds feature an ergonomic neckband made from lightweight ABS material. This construction allows them to sit securely around your neck without causing fatigue, making them suitable for all-day wear. The key here is the balance between stability and comfort. Unlike the in-ear design of the Swimbuds, the Drawup uses a neckband form factor that distributes weight differently, which many users find more comfortable for extended periods of running or walking.
Connectivity is where this device shines for the average consumer. It utilizes advanced CSR 4.1 wireless technology, which provides a stable, uninterrupted connection within a 33-foot range. This means you can leave your phone in your locker at the gym or put it in your pocket while jogging without worrying about the audio cutting out. The battery life is another major selling point, offering up to 8 hours of continuous playtime or talk time on a single charge. For someone who runs for an hour every morning or works a shift listening to podcasts, this longevity is crucial. The device is also IPX4 rated, meaning it can resist sweat and light water splashes, making it ideal for intense workouts where you might break a heavy sweat.
This product is perfect for those who need open ear headphones for work environments where they still want to hear their surroundings but prefer the isolation of noise-canceling features. The built-in noise-canceling technology helps reduce outside distractions, allowing you to focus on your music or calls whether you are at the gym or outdoors. It is also highly compatible with smartphones, tablets, and laptops, making it a solid companion for true wireless earbuds for pc users who want to switch between devices seamlessly. However, you must avoid this if you plan to go swimming. An IPX4 rating is sufficient for rain and sweat but does not offer the protection needed for submersion. Putting these in a pool would likely result in water damage and failure.

In my opinion, the right choice depends entirely on your primary activity. If you are buying for kids bluetooth options that involve swimming lessons or lap training, the Swimbuds Sport is the only logical choice because nothing else on this list can survive the water. It is a dedicated tool for a specific purpose. However, if you are looking for a single pair of headphones to handle the gym, the run, and the office, the Drawup Neckband Headphones are far superior due to their wireless flexibility and battery life. I would personally buy the Drawup for general use because it offers more utility in a dry world, but I would never recommend it for a swimmer. The Swimbuds is a specialist; the Drawup is a generalist.
Yes, the Swimbuds Sport is safe for children in the pool due to its IPX8 waterproof rating and secure eartip fit, whereas the Drawup headphones are not designed for submersion.
The Swimbuds Sport uses a standard 3.5mm jack, so it works with most MP3 players and phones that have a headphone port, though you may need an adapter for modern phones without a jack.
The Drawup Neckband Headphones provide up to 8 hours of continuous playtime or talk time on a single charge, making them suitable for long workouts or commutes.
Yes, the Drawup headphones feature an IPX4 rating that protects against sweat and light water splashes, making them suitable for outdoor use in rain or intense sweating.
