I’m Sonny Flint, a professional drummer and live sound engineer with a lifelong passion for music, performance, and sound.
Drumming runs in the family — my father, Hughie Flint, played with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, The Blues Band, and McGuinness Flint. I got my first drum kit at 13 and taught myself by listening to bands like Led Zeppelin and The Beatles. By 17, I was touring the UK with Omega Tribe, and I’ve been playing and recording ever since.
Over the years I’ve performed and recorded with artists including 13 Frightened Girls, The Silverjets, Me Against Them, Heidi Jo Hines, Simon Eugene, Emma Wilson’s Monarch Blues Band, Pete Fender, and David Knopfler (Dire Straits).
As a live sound engineer, I’ve toured with Das Pop, Is Tropical, and The Blockheads, and worked on recordings for Seasick Steve, Gary Numan, Emiliana Torrini, and Dhani Harrison.
I’ve been fortunate to work in iconic venues like the 100 Club, where I’ve seen legends such as Paul McCartney, Chuck Berry, and James Burton take the stage.
During lockdown I turned my focus to recording, investing in new equipment and creating a dedicated drum and recording space. That grew into Swift Studio — a fully soundproofed, air-conditioned live room and mixing space built for creativity and high-quality recording in Hastings, East Sussex.
In 2024, I toured the U.S. as part of the Heat of the Moment tour with Asia, Focus, and Curved Air, performing alongside Martin Turner (ex-Wishbone Ash). Since then I’ve joined the Claire Hamill Band, recording, mixing, and performing new music — the first single was released in March 2025.
Today, I continue to offer remote drum recording, studio sessions, and mixing for artists across styles and locations.
Every project is different, but the goal is always the same — to serve the song and capture great sound with energy, character, and precision.
Whether I’m behind the kit or the console, I believe in combining musical feel with technical skill.
Great recording isn’t just about microphones or gear — it’s about creating an atmosphere where musicians play their best.
That’s what Swift Studio is for: a relaxed, professional environment where creativity and sound quality meet.
