Shorty Phone Cleaner is developed by Advanced Social Tech ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the Shorty Phone Cleaner app ("the app") does with information.
Summary
The app does not upload your photos or videos, does not need an account, and has no advertising. It sends us anonymous usage counts and crash reports, described below, and nothing else. Everything else the app does happens on your device.
Photos and videos
To find duplicates, similar photos, screenshots, large videos and blurry photos, the app reads your photo and video library on your device and analyses it there. It does not upload those files, send them to us or to anyone else, or use them for any other purpose. The app keeps a local cache of image fingerprints in its own storage on your device so that rescans are faster. This cache is never sent off your device, and uninstalling the app deletes it.
Deleting files
When you choose to delete items, the app asks your phone's operating system to delete them, and the system shows its own confirmation. The app never deletes files without that confirmation.
Permissions
Photos and videos (Android: READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED; iOS: photo library access) are used only to analyse your library on your device. Storage permissions on older Android versions (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE up to Android 12, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE up to Android 10) are used for the same purpose and for deleting files on those versions. You can withdraw these permissions at any time in your device settings. Internet access is used only to send the anonymous usage counts and crash reports described below.
Analytics and crash reports
The app uses Google's Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. Analytics receives anonymous counts, for example how many items a scan found in each category, how long a scan took, how much space a clean-up freed, whether a clean-up was confirmed or declined, and whether the photo permission was granted. Crashlytics receives technical information when the app crashes, such as the device model, Android version, app version and the error. This data never includes your photos, videos, file names, file paths or library contents. Firebase uses a random app installation identifier to count how many devices use the app, which does not identify you. Google processes this data for us under its own terms and privacy policy. Nothing is collected from test builds.
Advertising
The app contains no advertising, does not use the advertising ID, and does not use your data for ads or personalization.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Data retention and deletion
We never receive your photos or videos, so there is nothing of them for us to retrieve or delete. Deleting files in the app deletes them from your device, and uninstalling the app removes its local cache and stops all collection. Anonymous usage counts and crash reports are not linked to your identity and are kept by Firebase for a limited period set in our Firebase project.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where the change is material, note it in the app's store listing.
