Effective date: 18 July 2026
Sway is an iOS focus app that helps users block distracting apps and websites during focus sessions and, where enabled, use AI-assisted temporary-access requests and reflections.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Sway handles, how it is used, which information stays on your device, and the choices available to you.
Depending on how you use Sway, the app may handle the following information.
Sway may process:
your Supabase user identifier;
your email address;
your optional display name;
your authentication provider;
your optional profile photo.
You can use Sway without creating a personal account. In that case, Sway may create an anonymous backend identity so that secure features can work without requiring registration.
Sway may process:
session title;
focus reason;
planned and actual session times;
session outcome;
focus preferences;
streak and history information;
summaries generated from your session.
Sway may process limited information relating to temporary-access requests, including:
a general target type, such as an app or category;
request time;
request status;
approved access duration;
limited request-history information.
Sway does not send the name of the selected app, category, or website to its backend or AI providers.
Sway may process:
StoreKit product identifier;
subscription and entitlement status;
original transaction identifier;
App Store environment;
subscription expiration information.
Apple processes the purchase and payment. Sway does not receive your full payment-card details.
When you send a message in the onboarding AI preview, make a temporary-access request, or use an AI-assisted End Early Check-In, Sway may process:
the text you enter;
your focus goal or reason;
limited session context;
requested duration;
a general target type.
AI content is sent only when you actively use an AI feature.
When you submit feedback, Sway may process:
feedback category;
feedback message;
optional reply email;
optional screenshot selected by you;
limited technical information, such as:
app version and build;
iOS version;
device-model identifier;
locale;
source screen;
subscription state;
server timestamp.
Private feedback is visible only to the Sway team. It is not published to other users.
When you choose to allow analytics and diagnostics, Sway may process limited information such as:
feature-use events;
app and device metadata;
AI provider and model;
response latency;
token counts;
decision type;
sanitized error categories.
Sway does not send raw AI messages, Screen Time selections, authentication tokens, or StoreKit transaction data to analytics services.
The following information remains on your device and is handled through Apple frameworks and Sway’s App Group storage:
FamilyActivitySelection;
opaque application tokens;
opaque category tokens;
opaque web-domain tokens;
app, category, and website names displayed by Apple;
raw Device Activity records;
locally calculated Screen Time totals;
Managed Settings shield configuration.
Sway does not send this information to Supabase, AI providers, PostHog, or Sentry.
AI providers receive only a general target type. They do not receive the selected app name or Screen Time token.
Website-only temporary access is not available in the current release.
Sway uses information to:
provide anonymous or linked authentication;
create and manage focus sessions;
provide optional cloud history and preferences;
verify Sway Pro entitlements;
process optional AI requests and reflections;
provide private customer support;
investigate technical problems;
improve app reliability and usability when analytics consent is granted;
protect Sway against abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access;
process account deletion and data-removal requests.
Sway does not use your information for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Sway does not currently request App Tracking Transparency permission because its current behavior does not involve tracking users across other companies’ apps or websites.
Sway uses third-party AI providers to process messages submitted through AI features.
These providers may include:
DeepSeek;
Google Gemini;
Cerebras.
AI requests are routed through authenticated Sway Edge Functions hosted by Supabase.
The onboarding AI preview uses a fixed Messages-app scenario. It can demonstrate how a request conversation works, but it cannot unlock an app, create a real temporary-access request, or consume your complimentary request.
Sway’s AI-usage records contain limited service metadata, such as provider, model, token counts, latency, and decision type. Sway does not intentionally store raw AI prompts or responses in its AI-usage tables.
You can disable future AI processing from Privacy & Data in the app. Disabling AI does not prevent you from using Basic focus sessions or Screen Time blocking.
Third-party AI providers may retain request information for limited security, abuse-prevention, or operational purposes according to their own policies and service configurations.
Sway may use:
PostHog for optional product analytics;
Sentry for optional error and reliability diagnostics.
These services remain disabled until you choose to allow analytics and diagnostics.
When enabled:
PostHog autocapture is disabled;
session replay is disabled;
screen and element capture are disabled;
raw AI messages are not included;
Screen Time selections and tokens are not included;
Sentry screenshots and view hierarchy are disabled;
Sentry default personally identifiable information collection is disabled;
Sentry tracing, replay, network breadcrumbs, and automatic breadcrumbs are disabled.
You can withdraw analytics and diagnostics permission from Privacy & Data. Withdrawal stops future app-side collection and clears the local analytics identity where supported.
Your analytics choice is independent of:
purchasing Sway Pro;
signing in;
granting Screen Time permission;
enabling AI features.
Sway uses the following providers to operate the app.
Supabase provides:
authentication;
PostgreSQL database hosting;
authenticated Edge Functions;
private profile-photo storage;
private feedback-screenshot storage.
DeepSeek, Google Gemini, and Cerebras may process text submitted through optional AI features.
PostHog provides optional product analytics after consent.
Sentry provides optional sanitized error and reliability diagnostics after consent.
Apple provides:
StoreKit purchases and subscriptions;
Sign in with Apple;
Family Controls;
Device Activity;
Managed Settings;
Screen Time authorization and enforcement.
These providers may process information in accordance with their own privacy policies and contractual obligations.
Sway’s current feedback feature is private.
Feedback submissions do not create:
public posts;
comments;
voting;
public profiles;
messaging between users;
social feeds;
public discovery.
Feedback records and optional screenshots are stored privately. App users cannot browse or read other users’ submissions.
Sway may use feedback to:
investigate bugs;
respond to support requests;
understand confusing experiences;
consider feature suggestions;
improve the app.
Older feedback created through a previous app feature may remain stored under restricted access until it is deleted or otherwise removed.
Sway retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the app, meet security and legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
An anonymous identity may remain active while its local authentication session remains available.
You may delete an anonymous account from Account Settings. Sway may then create a new anonymous identity so that local Basic features remain available.
Anonymous identities that are not linked to Sign in with Apple may not be recoverable after reinstalling the app or clearing the authentication session.
Linked account information, profile information, and optional profile photos are retained until account deletion, subject to temporary backups and operational logs.
Local focus history, active-session information, Screen Time choices, cached totals, and local request records remain on your device until they are removed through:
Clear Local Data;
account deletion;
app deletion;
automatic pruning where applicable.
Local temporary-request history may be automatically removed after seven days.
Cloud-synced focus information and preferences may remain until you delete your account.
Sway may retain a limited subscription-status mirror while your Sway account exists.
Apple separately controls App Store purchase and subscription history.
Sway does not intentionally store raw AI prompts or responses in its AI-usage database tables.
AI providers may retain information for limited operational, security, or abuse-prevention purposes under their own policies.
Analytics and diagnostic information may remain for the retention period configured with PostHog or Sentry.
Disabling analytics stops future app-side collection but may not immediately delete information already retained by those providers.
Private feedback and optional screenshots currently have no automatic expiration period.
Deleting your Sway account removes associated feedback screenshots and owner-linked feedback records, subject to temporary backups, logs, and support records that may need to be retained for legitimate legal or security purposes.
Residual copies may remain temporarily in encrypted backups, security logs, or provider systems after deletion.
You can enable or disable future AI processing from Privacy & Data.
You can enable or disable optional analytics and diagnostics from Privacy & Data.
Clear Local Data may remove:
local focus history;
active-session state;
Screen Time selections;
cached Screen Time totals;
local request records.
Clearing local data does not automatically delete cloud data or cancel an App Store subscription.
You can delete your Sway account from Account Settings.
Account deletion may:
remove your private profile photo;
remove private feedback screenshots;
delete your Supabase authentication account;
delete owner-linked Sway database records;
clear account-scoped local session and history data;
remove active app shields;
sign you out.
Account deletion does not cancel an App Store subscription.
You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID subscription settings.
Sway uses measures designed to protect information, including:
authenticated production Edge Functions;
row-level database security;
private storage buckets;
restricted administrative access;
sanitized logging;
on-device Screen Time tokens;
secure Apple frameworks;
limited analytics and diagnostic payloads.
Private feedback records are not directly readable by app users. Only trusted Sway administrative tools and services may review or update them.
No security system can guarantee absolute protection.
Sway is not designed or marketed as a Kids Category app.
Parents and guardians should consider whether Sway and its optional AI features are appropriate for a child under their supervision.
Regional age, consent, and child-privacy requirements may affect whether certain features are available.
Sway’s service providers may process information outside your country or region.
Where required, Sway and its providers rely on appropriate contractual, organizational, or legal safeguards for international processing.
Sway may update this Privacy Policy when:
app features change;
service providers change;
data practices change;
legal requirements change.
Material changes will update the effective date. Where appropriate, Sway may also provide an in-app notice or request renewed consent.
