Swap Shop Limerick was set up to promote ethical and sustainable shopping methods and to counteract fast fashion. The fashion industry is the second highest industry in terms of pollution, and we wanted to change that. None of us has perfect past relationships with fashion and there's many a skeleton of fast fashion in our closets, but through Swap Shop Limerick we wanted to make a difference to our own relationships with clothes and to help others do the same.

Originally called Swap It Shop It, our first event was in April 2019 and since October 2019 we've been running it on a monthly basis out of the Record Room on Catherine Street. Just in March we decided to change our name to Swap Shop Limerick. This is because we wanted to identify ourselves with where we started, especially as all over Ireland swap shops are taking off as people become more aware of sustainability in fashion and their everyday lives.

We've got lots planned for our future, we can't wait for you guys to see it!
