Welcome to another exciting season of fast pitch softball!  We know you are deciding what tournaments you will be entering for the upcoming season, and we would like you to consider the “Bill Ditchey Umpires Classic” which will be contested on fields throughout the Central Susquehanna River Valley.  

The Umpires Summer Classic Tournament was renamed in 2024 in honor of our long time tournament director, Bill Ditchey, who passed away from cancer.

• 5 game guarantee (weather permitting)

  • Most teams will play 6 to 7 games during the weekend! 

• 3 Saturday pool games to determine seeding

• Teams placed in brackets based on seeding results (Gold and Silver Brackets)

• Teams defeated in Sunday's first games play back to try and win a “Beaten’s Bracket” (Play-back Bracket)

• Only $625, NO pay at the plate.  Same price as last year!

Weather Cancellation / Dropout Policy

All events have associated costs such as field deposits, field rentals, awards, lodging, travel expenses, payroll and insurance coverage that are expensed and must be absorbed in some cases, regardless of if the event runs or not. The entry fee amount paid minus $30 will be refunded for rainouts/weather issues ONLY if tournament doesn't start. 

We will make every effort to NOT cancel for weather, but safety of players and coaches are a priority. Also, our complexes are owned by municipalities which helps in decision making for their fields. See the weather/cancellation steps. 

If weather/field conditions warrant changes during an event, the following decisions may be utilized by the director. 

• The number of pool games decreased.

• Playing time per game may be decreased.

• Bracket Play could start without completing all pool games on final day of tournament. 

If the tournament has started and we are cancelled during the event here is the refund policy.

• If NO games are played, the team will be refunded their entry fees minus $30.

• 1 Game played 50% refunded.

• 2 Games played 25% refunded.

• 3 Games played NO refund.

DROPPING FROM EVENTS 

THIS IS A CRITICAL ISSUE, PLEASE UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING. 

This is a tough situation for all teams and tournament directors. Your team must do the best they can to avoid dropping out of an event, including asking for help in finding guest players. The following policies will apply IF YOU DROP from an event within 21 days from the event's start date. 

1. If a team drops within 21 days of the event start date, but before the Pool schedule is published and replacement team can be found, they will receive 100% (less $30 admin fee) of entry fee. If NO replacement team is found, the team forfeits entry fee.

2. If a team drops from an event after the POOL PLAY schedule has been released/published, NO REFUND OR CREDIT will be issued. The entire entry fee is forfeited. Note a schedule can be released 2 weeks out.
