Utopia is a difficult concept. In fiction about utopia, a utopian world often turns out to be dystopian. I think that is because every extreme cannot be a good thing. That is why my utopia is about balance. I believe you must experience the bad to be able to appreciate the good. You cannot perceive happiness if you have never felt sorrow. In a perfect world, the balance would tip towards the positive, but would still include a little bit of the negative.
Serious games can play a role in this utopia on a personal level. They can be a tool to process negative emotions or incidents. For instance, an addict could be aided in recovery by a serious game. Besides handling negativity games could also help to generate positivity. Any educational games that stimulate self-development are an example of this.
