St. John Paul II
Why We Chose Him
St. John Paul II, a beloved figure in the Catholic Church, exhibited a profound and unwavering love for the youth. He recognized them as the future of the Church and tirelessly worked to inspire their spiritual growth and holiness. His magnetic personality drew young people from around the world, and he established events like World Youth Day to foster a sense of community and faith among them.
At the core of St. John Paul II's spirituality was a deep devotion to the Church, the Eucharist, and the Virgin Mary. His devotion to Mary, evident in his motto "Totus Tuus" (Totally Yours), showcased a profound love and trust in the Mother of God as a profound source of inspiration and intercession. He encapsulates the teachings of St Louis De Montfort "To Jesus through Mary."
The choice of St. John Paul II as the patron saint for this Young Adult Group is a fitting tribute to a man whose life epitomized the virtues and values that resonate deeply with the youth. Viewed as a loving spiritual father, his unparalleled love for young people, demonstrated through initiatives like World Youth Day, makes him an inspiring figure and a guiding light for the group's members. St. John Paul II's unwavering commitment to the Catholic Church, coupled with his dynamic leadership, his father like love for a community seeking spiritual guidance and growth, and his profound devotion to Mary make him a source of inspiration and a model for the group's collective journey in living their Catholic faith in the modern world.

St. Giana Molla
St. Gianna Molla, born Gianna Beretta on October 4, 1922, in Magenta, Italy, was a renowned pediatrician and a dedicated mother. Her life was marked by a deep commitment to her faith and a tireless pursuit of holiness in her daily life. As a physician, she excelled in her career, specializing in pediatrics, and was known for her compassionate care for children.
Gianna's devotion to the Lord and the Catholic Church became evident when she faced a life-threatening pregnancy complication. Faced with the choice of her life or her unborn child's, she chose the latter, sacrificing her own well-being. Her heroic decision ultimately led to her death on April 28, 1962, just a week after giving birth to her fourth child. St. Gianna Molla's exemplary life and her selfless choices continue to inspire many, emphasizing the sanctity of life and the profound impact one can have in striving for holiness in the midst of daily life. She is the patron saint of mothers, physicians, and unborn children.
The selection of St. Gianna Molla as the patron saint for this Young Adult Group is to reflect our desire to holiness within the context of the laity. As a married woman, mother, and pediatrician, St. Gianna navigated the complexities of daily life while maintaining a steadfast commitment to her faith. Her selfless decision to prioritize the life of her unborn child over her own, even in the face of a life-threatening situation, showcases a profound dedication to the sanctity of life and sacrificial love. Within this Young Adult group, we have many members in the healthcare industry, plus many of us may have the vocation to the married life. St. Gianna Molla serves as a compelling role model, illustrating how one can attain holiness through the pursuit of virtue and selfless service within their chosen vocations.
