Students looked at artists, such as Rembrandt, and how they draw objects from life. Students were given shells for inspiration. They experimented with shading and lines to make their shells appear realistic.

Students studied David Hockney's artwork. They examined how he used negative and positive space in his artwork. Students drew from images and then cut them out to create negative and positive space compositions.

Students learned about color. They created their own color wheel with primary, secondary and tertiary colors.
