いつもの　散歩道の　つくしさん 

この間　見た時より　背が　伸びた 

ちぃちゃんよりも　高くなった！ 

つくしさんも　春がきて　うれしいのかな

The horsetails on our usual walking path.

They've grown taller than when we saw them the other day.

They're even taller than Chii-chan now!

I wonder if the horsetails are happy that spring has arrived.

I am so happy spring is here, too.

夜が長くなるのは 「暗いね」と言って 灯りをともすため。

カレンダーが、最後の一枚になるのは

「今年も生きたね」と言って

互いの温もりを 確かめ合うため。

神様は、いじわるじゃない。

寒さも、暗さも、終わりも。

全部、ふたりをつなぐ　冬の贈りもの。

The cold wind blows

So we can say, "It's cold,"

And hold each other tight.

The night gets long

So we can say, "It's dark,"

And turn on a warm light.

The year comes to an end

So we can say, "We made it,"

And feel our love again.

God is not unkind.

The cold, the dark, and the end...

He gives us these gifts

今年も　こうして　あなた達に　会えたね。

去年の子供は　大きくなったかな？

Today again, I walk this riverbank with my dog.

In the warm afternoon light,

the ducks are gliding on the water.

A blue rock thrush

came to play in my garden today.

Singing with such a lovely voice,

the clear autumn sky

seems to grow even clearer.

So happiness

was right here, so close to me.

犬の散歩で　女の子に　会いました。

「かわいい　わんちゃん！」って　言って　くれました。

「ありがとう」と　伝えたら、

心が　ほわりと　なりました。

女の子から　あったかい　プレゼント　もらえました。

On a walk with my dog,

I met a little girl.

"What a cute puppy!" she said.

"Thank you,"

I answered.

And my heart felt warm.

She gave me the warmest present.
