We are currently supporting the campaign over Fairtrade and Climate Justice. You can sign the community declaration here.
This campaign is being shared by Sutton Community Fairtrade Group. Transform Trade has taken over Traidcraft. This campaign is part of the effort to fight multinationals being able to sue governments for losses because of their efforts in the battle against climate change? Several local co-operators were involved in the anti-TPP campaigns in the past largely because of the ISDS clauses.
Tell your MP: it's time to #ExitECT
Right now, the UK is a member of a treaty that allows oil and gas companies to sue Governments for trying to phase out fossil fuels. Climate change is one of the biggest crises of our lifetime but meaningful action is being blocked by this outdated agreement. Over the past two years, 9 countries have announced they’re leaving the climate-blocking Energy Charter Treaty (ECT). The UK needs to be next. Ask your MP to write to the Minister and demand we leave the ECT to meet our climate goals. You can take action here
We are spending the year updating the The Co-operative Agenda for Sutton local policy document. Further documents that can assist with this are the national Co-op Party Build your Own Co-op Manifesto page and the London Co-op party's Common Ground Manifesto
Local members campaigned in the General Election held on 4th July 2024.
Campaign Events were easy to find by going here.
Thank you for your support in the General Election. You voted for change and all of us acting together achieved it.
