Sustenance Crisis Aid

About us:

We are different from many food distribution charities in that one of our main sources of donated food is surplus food that would otherwise have been unnecessarily wasted.

The long-term aims of SCA as set in our constitution are as follows:

1 - To alleviate hunger and malnutrition of people in crisis.

2 - To reduce food waste by redistributing surplus food.

3 - To help establish volunteering networks throughout the UK.

4 - To partner with other organisations who are willing to cooperate for the benefit of those who are suffering the most during times of crisis.

Potential benefactors in self isolation or at risk of food poverty, can submit their details through our form and be given food.

Volunteers can sign up to join one of our many exciting teams.

Our redistribution strategy:

We cooperate with many organisations and use a network of volunteers to help redistribute food that may come from a variety of places, including supermarkets, wholesalers, farmers and others willing to partner with us.

To distribute to those in self-isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, an outreach page has been created for people to contact us if they need food donations delivered to their door by volunteers.

Partnerships

The kinds of partnerships we desire are as follows:

  • local government / councils - for potential funding, and volunteers.

  • Health and social care service providers - to make ourselves known to potential benefactors in self isolation, so we can distribute food to their front doors.

  • Organisations whose buildings we may be able to use as community hubs to store and sort food donations.

  • Already established NGO's and voluntary groups who may be interested in cooperating in some way that will further each others aims.

  • Regional food suppliers such as, supermarkets, farms, fruit and veg markets, etc.

  • Surplus food redistribution charities.

  • Other aid organisations willing to collaborate and provide mutual support.

Currently we are working with FoodForAllUK, who are doing an amazing job helping deliver cooked food to the most vulnerable in society.
