SUSTAIN rolled out Training Needs Assessment in the East and Southern African (ESA) Region, Asia Pacific Region (APR) and West and Central African Region (WCA) to assess knowledge gaps in the implementation of SECAP.
The findings laid the foundations for the development of the SECAP curricula for Project Delivery Teams (PDTs); Project Management Units (PMUs) in charge of implementation and compliance; and internal and external ESC experts and consultants rendering services to both PDTs and PMUs.

SUSTAIN certified over 66 SECAP trainers in APR, ESA, and WCA and has been delivering 18 trainings to 554 participants from 25 countries.
From the outset, SUSTAIN emphasized sustainability, participation, engagement, and stakeholder ownership. The SECAP training curriculum and materials were collaboratively developed and tested with PMU members, IFAD’s SECAP specialists, ESC consultants, and experts in adult training within international development contexts.
