Increasing teacher understanding of environmental issues also increases self efficacy in implementing the Sustainable WATERS project. During teacher training on site and through the supports built in for teacher review of concepts preparing for modules allows for increased content knowledge. The Teacher Quick Concept Review is in each module introduction so that you can increase your content knowledge related to the module.
In the Overview of Modules within this introduction you will see the crosswalk between the 5e model for instruction and the Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE). The design of each module kept these two ideas as a supportive framework for developing content and lessons. Modeling is used throughout so that these complex ideas are broken down into focused activities where students are able to represent concepts, collect data from, and manipulate models. This methodology in turn supports the understanding of diverse learners who may not have interacted with these concepts before within the classroom or out in the would.
As part of the Sustainable WATERS cohort you now have a community of practice to rely on. Support is available from your collogues at multiple schools sites throughout the district. Completing teacher check-in helps not only improve the program but your own experience as well. By submitting each each in FGCU staff are able to make adjustments to content. Also remember you can directly contact FGCU staff beyond the kick-off training day for support in implementing the Sustainable WATERS Project.
Projects for your students can take place in many different ways. Watch the video to get started and use the resources available in each module for project management, ideas for projects, and current projects your class can support.
