World Wetlands Day Celebration
14th February 2026
Pusat Pendidikan Biodiversiti Tanjung Tuan, Melaka
World Wetlands Day is celebrated annually on 2 February to raise awareness about the importance of wetlands for people and the planet. The 2026 global theme, “Wetlands and Traditional Knowledge: Celebrating Cultural Heritage”, emphasises the role of people and traditional knowledge in protecting and sustaining wetland ecosystems.
Tanjung Tuan is an ecologically significant coastal area, well known for its biodiversity and as a migratory bird stopover site. Organising World Wetlands Day at Tanjung Tuan provides a meaningful platform to educate students and the public about wetlands, while highlighting the connection between nature, culture, and community stewardship.
This one-day program aims to promote environmental awareness and community participation through educational and hands-on activities.
