  • Where Have All the Forests Gone?

Where have all the forests gone?

Short time passing.

Where have all the meadows gone?

Short time ago.

Where have all the animals gone?

Sussex has no room for them

When will we ever learn?

When will we ever learn?

Where have waters clear gone?

Short time passing

Where have all the country roads gone?

Short time ago

Where have slower-lower-Delaware gone?

Dream of yester-year fleeting

When will we ever learn?

When will we ever learn?

Why are streets big parking lots?

Short time passing

Why do people yell and scream?

Short time ago

Why can't we swim in the bay?

Ask P&Z what they've done

When will we ever learn?

When will we ever learn?

So, what are you going to do?

Short time passing

Will you sit and groan and moan?

Short time ago

We know we can bring our dream

Together we make Sussex home

We'll learn how we get there

We'll do what we can do

This land is your land and this land is my land

From Brandywine to the Fenwick island

From Ft. DuPont Park to the Gulf Stream waters

This land was made for you and me

As I went walking that ribbon of highway

I saw above me that endless skyway

Saw below the Delmarva Peninsula

This land was made for you and me

I roamed and rambled and I've followed my footsteps

To the sparkling sands of Rehoboth Beach

All around me a voice was sounding

This land was made for you and me

When the sun come shining, then I was strolling

And the corn fields waving, the Nanticoke River rolling

The voice was chanting as the fog was lifting

This land was made for you and me

This land is your land and this land is my land

From California to the New York island

From the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters

This land was made for you and me

This land is your land and this land is my land

From Brandywine to the Fenwick island

From Ft. DuPont Park to the Gulf Stream waters

This land was made for you and me
