Dr Susan M. C. Mac Donald was born in Dublin and educated in Dublin and the Midlands, Ireland. She holds degrees in mathematics, music, philosophy and Greek and Roman civilization from Maynooth University, together with postgraduate qualifications in computer, mathematical and health sciences from Keele University, the University of Oxford and the University of Chester. She holds a PhD in the development of geometry syllabuses from Maynooth University. She is a former researcher and developer in computational musicology with the University of York and a former lecturer in music technology. She is currently a lecturer in mathematics at South East Technological University.
