I hope to use storyboarding as a way to ultimately communicate to people poignant, empathetic messages of this (whether for my stories or others): “you are not alone.”
I intend to make a living as a visual storyteller for others, while continuing to develop my skills with smaller personal projects.
Personally, I’ve always prefered animation over live action: stylizing the characters/movements to fit their own personality/overall style!
Help visually tell other people’s stories as a storyboard artist, preferably for animation (i.e., like a ‘director jr.’ who does more drawing)
Why storyboarding: drawing style is more sketchy but, hopefully, decisive rather than sloppy.
Why in animation: preference for character acting (live action ‘boarding only has placement, no acting)
Audience: mostly unsure. (maybe 8-12 yrs., family, young-adult, and/or adult?)
Most desired: poignant and/or weird character-driven stories
Overall: comedy-drama, sometimes surreal, but sympathetic (hopefully empathetic)
morality: lesson-learning, at least proper karma
comedy: endearing, quirky, sometimes more surreal/weird
drama: at least poignant, also mysterious, surreal, some darkness
sci-fi: tap into my science & math aptitudes, personal favorite genre, a grounded counterbalance with surrealism
Story type: Down-to-earth problems & motivations, but with sci-fi/genre-specific/outlandish flavors to it
Deeper stories: man vs self (internal struggle)
Dream work: “a realistic, down-to-earth show that’s completely off the wall and swarming with magic robots”
Help people not feel lonely in their struggles, and maybe show that they can overcome their struggles
Come to terms with my own struggles & pain (my reason for liking surreal stories)
