SPMS HISTORY

Serving as a drilling ground for music enthusiasts, The Susana Pichay Music Studio (SPMS) extends to inspire it’s workshoppers’ musical aptitude by gearing the right vocal techniques and “from the heart” inspirational artistic attitudes.

Initially conceived as a polishing ground for would-be overseas contract entertainers, it has evolved into an entirely different facet altogether. From its flashy studios at the Guadalupe Commercial Complex (1980s), it has moved two more times to the heart of Makati catering to the lucrative clientele of Japanese-sponsored entertainers as workshoppers.

Inspite of the profitable undertaking, however, its main proponent, SUSANA PICHAY had a sudden change of heart by moving the studio closer to her family---her home.

This transition also altered the structure of its course design. From the more financially rewarding classroom style of training by groups, it shifted into a friendlier “one-on-one” approach of vocal coaching. Therefore, when a student is perceived to be weak in an area, it is given emphasis for development while strong points are consistently enhanced.

The method is more personalized and is able to deal with the student’s individual differences effectively. Since then, it has developed well-known entertainers like Jaya, Dessa, Willie Nepomuceno, Romano Vasquez, Sunshine Dizon, Jennylyn Mercado, Yul Servo, Katya Santos, Maybelyn Dela Cruz, Maui Taylor, Kier King, Jessica Reynoso and many others who have made a name in the music industry.

It offers singing workshops for professional and non-professional singers with emphasis on the following: diction, breathing exercises, personality, and actual stage performance.

The present SP Music Studio is a modest one. Its atmosphere is “homey” : the new clientele is “family” and the relationship “full of love overflowing”.
