Survivor: UConn is based on the hit reality show Survivor while emulating that experience on the UConn campus. Contestants participate in challenges (both as teams and as individuals), create social connections with other participants, and vote each other to become the Sole Survivor. At the end of each season, footage from the semester is edited into a Survivor-style show that is put on Youtube.
Students on the UConn Storrs campus with a valid NetID are allowed to join the club and compete! We do one season per semester so if you are too busy to apply for the current semester, we encourage you to apply in a future semester!
The Survivor: UConn season spans a semester. At the beginning of each semester, an application is created and shared out across campus for any and all eligible UConn students to apply. After the application, 15-20 students are chosen to compete in a semester long season of Survivor: UConn. Contestants are put on tribes and compete with their tribes and individually for immunity and other advantages. The club meets twice a week for challenges (both group and individual) and for tribal council. Contestants are also interviewed for confessionals. At the end of the season, the footage from confessionals, challenges, tribal councils, and contestant footage is edited into a Survivor style show. The game is whatever each contestant makes it!
Not at all! Survivor: UConn is always looking for members to help out with filming, challenge set up, editing, and more. If you are a UConn Storrs student who is interested in joining without competing, feel free to email us at survivoruconn@gmail.com.
Even though each season only lasts a semester, we have a strong alumni network of contestants that have competed in previous seasons! Lots of past contestants form friendships with both the officers in the club and other former contestants. We have alumni who have joined our officer team, alumni who volunteer to help with film and editing, and alumni who just like to hang out! Throughout the semester we have get togethers for past and present contestants like our fundraisers, Survivor watch parties, and more! Survivor: UConn works to keep our members involved for as long as they'd like!
