I'm not going to lie, I'm having a hard time die-jess-ting this episode. Well not really, I just wanted to make that pun okay. ANOTHER amazing episode! This season of Survivor David vs Goliath is off to a great start, the best newbie season I've seen since Kaoh Rong, but this is obviously only based off of two episodes. The editing this episode was phenomenal, very old school like. At least the first 20 minutes of the episode was purely camp life, going back and fourth between each tribe, which is very unusual for modern survivor editing but so refreshing to watch. I truly believe I have a grasp on every player so far this season or at least where they stand in the game in terms of strategy, as well as a lot of personal content on each of them. This is something I would not be able to say about the past 3-4 seasons of Survivor. They made a perfect mix of intertwining strategy with personal characterization, for example in order to demonstrate Natalie Napalm's lack of "self awareness" and polarization in terms of strategy, Jeremy explains that she's been married for "26 years" and anybody with someone loving them for who they are for that long is sure to be very self-confident.
Goliath Tribe
WOMEN POWER!!! The past two seasons of Survivor, Survivor Ghost Island and Heroes Healers Hustlers have been predominately led by men in terms of strategy. With players like Ben Driebergen and the duo of Wendell and Domenick from last season. However this season on the Goliath tribe the women are seizing control! When Kara's early "showmance" with Dan proved to be troublesome and painting a target on her back, she turned to her alliance members Natalia and Angelina to show that her true allegiance lied with the women and that she was just playing Dan. Then evolved the plan laid out by Angelina, Angelina would bring in John "her man", Natalia would bring in Alec, and Kara, Dan. Although we havn't directly seen this alliance in play yet or have been shown a scene with the 6 of them together, if it holds up this alliance could be very powerful. And in this case it will most likely work in the women's favor if history proves reliable. The last time we saw a couples alliance like this that was successful (ignoring the mess that was the Fans tribe in Caramoan) was back in Survivor Micronesia when (spoiler's about Micronesia ahead) winner Parvati Shallow and runner-up Amanda Kimmel formed a 4 person alliance with their showmances Ozzy and James. Simultaneously they brought in fellow favorite Cirie Fields and when the merge came the three girls played the two men like a fiddle. Cirie and Parvati led the blindside against Ozzy and then later on James was med-evacced. Ultimately the three girls made it to the final 3 (should've remained that way if it weren't for a last minute final 2 that robbed Cirie and broke my heart.) Could this be the end-game for Survivor David vs Goliath? A Kara, Angelina, Natalia all girls final 3? Who knows. Interestingly enough Alison mentioned in her pregame that she would love to start the Black Widow Brigade 2.0 yet was left out of this alliance.
Meanwhile not all the woman on the Goliath tribe are doing too well, most specifically Natalie, or Napalm Natalie, Natalie Napalm, whatever floats your boat (if only Pat's boat could just float.)Â
