REFLECTION

This period marked by a great deal of creativity and experimentation. Filipino authors are using unusual styles in writing literature. In this topic, we focus more on Jose Garcia Villa's short story "Footnote to Youth". It is a story about love and marriage at a young age. It's a very interesting story because it depicts the life in a rural areas where the protagonist live. It also be a depiction of the rural areas in the past where young adults marry at an early age and live a life like the protagonist.

Many important developments in Philippine literature happens in the period. First, Filipino writers had finally mastered the English language, and they were now able to write with fluency and ease. Second, they were no longer content to simply imitate American and British models; they began to experiment with new forms and styles, and they developed their own unique voices. Third, they began to write about the Filipino experience in a more realistic and honest way. 

The self-discovery period was a time of great creativity and innovation in Philippine literature. It was a time when Filipino writers began to find their own voices and to explore their own unique identities.
