The curator of this site has a home in Surf City so the information is focused to the center of LBI.

How can you gauge the impact of a storm or other weather event ? Look at these pictures taken at the foot of N 7th street in Surf City. Note the highth of the water in the the pictures.Then look at the graph below and click on the link to the Stevens Flood Advisory System. Compare the height of the current prediction form the Stevens Institute to the graph below produced on the day the pictures were taken. (10/9/2019)


This was an unusually high tides resulting form the low pressure system that was in the area around Wednesday 10/9, 2019 with the highest water 10/10 and 10/11. 


This picture shows the water over-toping the bulkhead at 3:00 PM, Low tide was 6:11 PM and High Tide was 11:15 PM


There was no rain during this event. The water was as high as a pick up truck can navigate with maybe 3 more inches of leeway. Appx 3 inches of water was in the garage at 357 N 7th St

Note that this event is in the middle of the Moderate Flood Level. <<< 3.5>>>>For 7th street in Surf City. 

 The result during the dead high tide was about 3 inches of water in the garage at 357 North 7th.

Another point of reference is when the dock goes under water. Below is a picture taken 9/22/23 showing that the bay level is just at the deck of the dock. Note: Graph shows the dark red line (actual) was at 3 feet above normal.
