The Transportation Engineering syllabus at covers highway planning, geometric design, traffic engineering, pavement materials, pavement design, and construction techniques. It includes road development plans, surveys, cross-sectional elements, sight distances, horizontal and vertical alignments, and traffic studies related to volume, speed, control devices, and road safety. Pavement materials such as soil subgrade, stone aggregates, bituminous binders, and mix design (Marshall Stability Test) are studied alongside pavement design methodologies for flexible (IRC 37-2012) and rigid (IRC 58-2015) pavements. Construction techniques like GSB, WBM, WMM, cemented bases, and various bituminous layers (BM, AC, BSG) are also covered, ensuring students gain comprehensive knowledge of road infrastructure planning, design, and maintenance.
