Dr. Suresh Neelakantan
Associate Professor
Brief Bio: Dr. Suresh Neelakantan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE), IIT Delhi, since Apr 2022. Prior to that, he was Assistant professor at DMSE and Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT Delhi (Apr 2022 - Feb 2016). Before joining IIT Delhi he worked as a post-doctoral research associate on “Mechanical behaviour studies of highly porous materials for bio-implant applications” at Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge, UK, since Feb 2011. Before moving to UK, he pursued his PhD degree at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, and graduated in Jul 2010. His PhD research work was on “Tailoring mechanical properties through plasticity induced transformation in metastable β titanium alloys”. Prior to his PhD, he received his M.Sc. (Engg.) by research degree in 2004 for the study on “Aging effects on Cu-based Shape memory alloys properties” at Department of Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He completed his basic degree (B.E.) in Metallurgical Engineering in 2001 from Government College of Engineering – Salem, affiliated to University of Madras, Chennai, India.
