Research Projects

Big data pRocessing and Artificial Intelligence at the Network Edge (BRAINE)

(UCC, Cork, Ireland June 2020- Present)

Working with: Prof. Cormac Sreenan and Prof. Utz Roedig, School of Computer Science and IT, UCC, Cork, Ireland

The BRAINE project’s overall aim is to boost the development of the Edge framework and, specifically, energy efficient hardware and AI empowered software systems, capable of processing Big Data at the Edge, supporting security, data privacy and sovereignty.

UCC Contribution: Security and Privacy aspects of distributed data storage and placement strategies of the project.

Energy Efficient Deadline Constrained System

(IT (BHU), Varanasi June 2018- June 2020)

Supervisor: Dr. Hari Prabhat Gupta, Assistant Professor, IIT (BHU), Varanasi

Developing Ubiquitous systems with energy efficiency and constrained deadline in Fog computing framework. We determine the task offloading decision, i.e., when and where to offload the task (or its fraction), in Fog computing for fulfilling given network demands. This work derives the expressions of total delay and energy consumption and use them to estimate fractions of the task that are computed at each layer to reduce the energy consumption such that the task is computed within a specific deadline.

Smart Pencil Grip Monitoring System for Kids

(IIT (BHU), Varanasi Jan 2018 - June 2018)

Supervisor: Dr. Hari Prabhat Gupta, Assistant Professor, IIT (BHU), Varanasi

A real time writing instrument grip and motion monitoring system was designed for kids using sensors that can collect that collects real time data of kids writing activity and uses classification techniques for identifying the activity performed. Sensors were attached to the pencil for collecting the accelerometer and pressure data which was transmitted to a smart device for processing and classification. A real-time prototype was developed for the system.

Traffic Engineering Framework in SDN

(IIT (BHU), Varanasi June 2017 - Jan 2018)

Supervisor: Dr. Hari Prabhat Gupta, Assistant Professor, IIT (BHU), Varanasi

Network providers have to consider not only the user demands but also the pricing policy for maximizing their revenue generated from the network. We proposed a priority based traffic engineering framework in SDN that maximizes the revenue generated for the service providers. The framework accepts the users Quality of Service (QoS) demands, their pricing plans and the network constraints to manage the network flow such that revenue collected from the users can be maximized.

Optimized Path Planning for Mobile Anchor based Localization of Sensor Nodes

(IIIT, Allahabad Aug 2015 - June 2016)

Supervisor: Dr. Shirshu Verma, Assosiate Professor, IIIT Allahabad.

An Optimized Path planning technique was designed for a mobile anchor such that it could achieve maximum localization ratio in minimum path length. Static Sensor Nodes were randomly deployed in a pre-defined area and a mobile sensor node aware of its location was used to assist other nodes in localizing themselves.
