An-Naba or The News[1] (Arabic: , an-naba,[2] also known as "The Tidings", "The Announcement") is the seventy-eighth chapter (surah) of the Quran, with forty ayat or verses.
This surah emphasizes on the Qiyamah and refers to the concept and angel of death. It tells us about two kinds of people at the time of their death, one whose souls are taken gently and the second, whose souls are taken violently. Both kinds of people will be shown their place in Jannah and Jahannam. It mentions Firawn and how he was punished for rejecting the message.

Surah Takwir details some of the powerful events that will lead to the Day of Judgement like rolling up of the sun and falling of the stars. Allah swt also praises the noble angel Jibreel (as) in this surah.
Like Surah Tawkir, this surah also paints a vivid picture of the Day of Judgement. Allah swt mentions that everyone will know what they have sent forth for this Day as in deeds, good or bad. Allah swt also asks mankind, what possibly made us careless about the Lord of all Creation? We are reminded of the Kiraman, the scribes that record everything we do. On that Day nobody shall have power to do anything for another and the Decision of our fates shall solely be with Allah swt.
This surah speaks about the persecution of the Believers. Allah swt mentions the story of the People of the Ditch who were persecuted for their Belief in Allah. Allah swt reminds us that He watches over His people and in the end, the oppressors will be dealt with a Firm Hand, just like those of the previous nations. Allah swt also reminds us that the Quran is preserved in Lauh-al-Mahfuz, the Preserved tablet.
The surah begins with the praise of the Most High, the Creator of everything, Who has proportioned everything for each one of us. Allah swt reminds us that He knows what is apparent and what is hidden. Allah swt talks about the afterlife and mentions how this life is nothing as compared to that. We prefer this life, however the afterlife is much better and everlasting. This surah also mentions the benefit of reminders. Remind others of good, so that they may profit. Allah swt reminds us that the truly successful are those people who purify their souls.
