Sur Bradley J. Hoffman is a 19 year old new age beatnik, hippie. He is a TBoy with finger tats and a passion for getting himself out there. He nightly exposes his brain to the air by drowning in sativa. Him and his bo LJ live together with their four male guinea pigs and Miss Bam Bam. Bradley has been in therapy for the past 8 years of his life and uses his learned verbage to communicate with his lover, life, and lingerers. Bradley constantly engages in controversal works and speaks in a controversial tongue for better and for worse. He is an insecure, confident, worshipper of god's gifts.
Art is absurd. In the textbook the idea is explained as- "the idea of significant form, the quality shared by aesthetically
pleasing objects, was proposed as a definition of art". Which barebones I agree with.
But the art I consume, enjoy and fight for is absurd "unart". The image I've shared I've described in my personal notebook as: two My Little Pony figurines, Fluttershy & Derpy Hooves, from the Gen 4 toy line. They are placed in front of 5 nuggets of cannabis, with the camera tilted up, staunch white background, & a low camera quality.
I believe that images such as this is art. It's a very deliberate set up of "aesthetically pleasing" objects in a significant form. It plays with the childishness and innocence of the toys with their pastel colors placed in front of dark green heads of marijuana. It can easily be interpreted sophistically as a child playing with the weird plants their parent left out, a call to inappropriate parenting. It can be an ode to the return to a simpler time one feels on marijuana. Plenty of cannabis enjoyers also indulge in "childish" things whether it's cause scary drugs melt their brain or they give so little fucks that they will do as they please.
Art shouldn't have to bend to conventions. If this were a piece where a child playing house with Daddy's ciggies then we would have the same "intellectual" draw. But this type of absurdism opens up for new modern meaning. Stoners can be silly and childish. And with this new interpretation you can expand with a negative or positive message to it, make more conclusions. Horses are used in rehab therapies most often so is there a pavlovian draw to them? Art is stupid at a base level and art should be taken seriously. But we should take all stupid art seriously as per my example.
