Arrival by train:
The TU Dortmund has its own S-Bahn station ("Dortmund Universität") on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via "Bahnhof Düsseldorf Flughafen".
From downtown Dortmund, you can also get to TU Dortmund University by bus or light rail by taking the U41, U45, U47 or U49 light rail from the main train station to "Stadtgarten", from there take the U42 to "An der Palmweide" and ultimately change to the 462 or 447 buses to "Dortmund Universität S". Another option would be to take the above-mentioned subway lines from Dortmund Central Station to the stop "Dortmund Kampstraße" (one stop), from there take the subway U43/ U44 to the stop "Dortmund Wittener Straße" and continue with bus 447 to the stop "Dortmund Universität S". For further information on the timetable or connections to long-distance rail services, please refer to the links https://www.vrr.de/en/ and https://int.bahn.de/en.
Arrival by car:
The campus of TU Dortmund University is located close to interstate junction Dortmund West, where the Sauerlandlinie A 45 (Frankfurt-Dortmund) crosses the Ruhrschnellweg B 1 / A 40. The best interstate exit to take from A 45 is "Dortmund-Eichlinghofen" (closer to Campus Süd), and from B 1 / A 40 "Dortmund-Dorstfeld" (closer to Campus Nord). Signs for the university are located at both exits. Also, there is a new exit before you pass over the B 1-bridge leading into Dortmund.
The closest parking lot is located across from Otto-Hahn Str. 6a.
Arrival by plane:
Dortmund Airport, DTM (https://www.dortmund-airport.com/): The airport is connected to several destinations in Central Europe. For the approximately 20 kilometers from Dortmund airport to the campus, you can take the bus to the main train station and from there the S-Bahn.
Düsseldorf Airport, DUS (https://www.dus.com/en): Far more international flight connections are offered by the Rhine-Ruhr Airport in Düsseldorf, about 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station (“Bahnhof Düsseldorf Flughafen” to “Dortmund Universität”).
Cologne Bonn Airport, CGN (https://www.cologne-bonn-airport.com/en/): More international flight connections are offered by the Cologne Bonn Airport, about 80 kilometers away. Take the S-Bahn to “Köln Messe/Deutz” and change to the long-distance train (ICE or RE) to Dortmund main station, then take the S-Bahn to the university station.
Frankfurt airport, FRA (https://www.frankfurt-airport.com/en.html): The airport has several international and overseas destinations and is about 210 kilometers away. You can take the long-distance train (ICE) to Dortmund main station and from there the S-Bahn.
