Frequently asked questions
Do my documents leave my device?
No. Scanning, converting and merging all happen on your device. There is no account, no cloud storage and no upload. One component does report to its maker: Google's text recognition sends Google anonymous usage metrics. That report never contains a document, an image or recognised text.
Where are my files stored?
In the app's private storage area on your device. Only Izy Doc Scanner can read that folder. Use Share to send a copy somewhere else. Deleting a document moves it to Trash, where you can restore it or delete it for good.
How do I delete a document?
Swipe a row to the left, or open the menu and choose Delete. The document moves to Trash, where you can restore it or delete it permanently. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored.
Why does the app ask for camera access?
Only to capture document pages while you scan. Photo access is requested only when you pick images to convert to PDF.
A scan came out crooked or incomplete.
Automated detection works best with good lighting, a plain contrasting surface and the whole page inside the frame. You can retake the page or adjust the crop before saving.
Can I scan in colour or black and white?
Yes. Filters are applied after capture, and you can change the filter for a page before saving the document.
Why was my merge limited to certain files?
Only PDF documents can be merged. Convert images or scans to PDF first, then merge them.
Is there a subscription or in-app purchase?
No. The app has no subscriptions and no advertising.
Why is Izy Doc Scanner offered when I open a PDF or an image in another app?
On Android the app registers for files sent from other apps, so opening a document and choosing Izy Doc Scanner copies it into your library and displays it. Only PDFs and images are accepted. No storage permission is involved, because the sending app grants access to that one file.
Can I make an image smaller without losing its shape?
Yes. On the Converter screen choose Resize, then pick a size by percentage, by width, by longest edge or in exact pixels, choose JPEG or PNG, and pick the images. The shape is always kept, images are never enlarged, and the originals are left untouched.
Can I open an image or a text file, not just a PDF?
Yes. PDFs get the full viewer with pinch to zoom and page swiping, images open with zoom, and text files (such as .txt, .md, .csv or .json) open in a readable preview. Anything else is handed to the system share sheet so you can still reach it in another app.
Can I merge a PDF that was made from photos?
Yes. Merging works on any PDF, including one the app created from images. Combine it with another PDF in PDF Merge, set the order, and merge.
Reporting a problem
Please describe what you did, what you expected and what happened instead. If a particular document caused the problem, tell us its type and size — but do not email us the document itself, as we do not need it and cannot store it.
