Who are we?
Superstars Camp is a day camp that proudly serves the West Loop community of Chicago. We cross the experience of a traditional day camp with that of the sleep-away camp experience. From large, camp-wide competitions like Olympics or Camp Idol to our daily favorites like Gaga and our edible arts & crafts projects, our camp has something to offer every kid. We believe that a well planned and structured day of fun and exciting activities is what kids were meant to do during the summer!
What do we do?
We believe in putting electronic devices away and getting out to play all day! Our camp is one part traditional day camp, where kids are active playing games most of the day and one part big camp events we stole from our own experiences working at sleep-away camps on the east coast. The camp-wide events bring the camp together for exciting competition that can be creative, competitive, or both! Our trips get us out in the community doing things that all kids should do during the summer (water parks, arcades, and performances). Our hours are 7:30am-6:00pm, with our structured camp day lasting from 9:30a-3:30p.

Junior Counselor Program
Who: kids aged 13-15
We’re excited to announce that we will start a new program aimed at giving older children the opportunity to serve as helpers and role models. As older kids, they will be given some additional responsibility around camp. During activities they will play a supportive role for our counselors and aim to make activities for fun for campers by playing with them. They’ll even be responsible for putting on a couple of events throughout the summer (with our supervision and guidance, of course). When camp take trips they’ll get a break and get to enjoy themselves a bit, too. Junior Counselors and parents will still need to fill out a registration form and an additional Junior Counselor Code of Conduct that they will need to abide by at all times. The cost will be $100/week for 1st year JCs and free for returning JCs. Please note the returning JCs will need to be invited back to camp and that invite will be based on their fulfillment of last summer’s duties.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does my camper need to bring to camp?
We encourage our campers to drink a lot of water throughout the day so a water bottle is always a good idea. We also ask that you please send the extra set of clothes in a ziplock or plastic bag with your child’s name on it. We keep them on hand for any accidents, but also in case we get a very hot day and decide to get wet to cool down. We will return them at the end of the summer. Electronics are okay to bring as well, but they can only be used outside of our structured camp day and will be locked up and put away during our structured camp day. We have sunscreen on hand, but if you would like special sunscreen put on your camper we ask that you send that and communicate any special needs with us.
Do you separate children by age and grade?
For most of the camp day the campers are grouped by age where they travel to different areas of camp. We do put on large camp events that may incorporate two or more of the group depending on the developmental appropriateness of the activity.
How do I register for camp?
See that registration form above? Fill that out and email it to us at superstarssummer@gmail.com. We will send you some additional info. Your spot is locked in once you pay for your first week. That payment 100% refundable should your plans change. Please note that to adequately staff the camp we do have a weekly cap that we must abide by so registration forms alone will not lock in your spot at camp.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes, we offer a 10% discount for any and all siblings attending camp.
Do you accept "walk up" registrations?
We do so long as space is available.
Will I receive additional information about camp after I register?
Yes, once you register we will send you a welcome packet with a ton of info on camp. Info on our camp calendar & newsletters will be included, as well as our optional payment plan ease the burden on families.
What types of activities are offered at camp?
We offer a variety of activities that range from traditional kids games to whole week long competitions. Each day our campers visit three different areas where counselors select developmentally appropriate games and activities for the kids to engage in. At our arts & crafts studio, kids get to show off their creative side. Even our more athletically inclined campers love this area because we often make edible arts & crafts projects. They'll also go to the gym and outside for physical-activity based games. After lunch and during specific elective times, campers my choose to participate in sporting events. We do provide other activity choices, including extra arts & crafts during this time.
What is the swimming test procedure?
The swimming test procedure varies depending on what facility we our visiting. The swimming test is always done in a one and one setting where a life guard supervises a camper. Most have campers swim one length (25m) while treading water. All campers are required to pass a swim test to swim in water deeper than their mid-chest.
What is the camper to counselor ratio at Superstars Camp?
During our structured camp day on all trips away from camp we hold a 5 to 1 ratio for day camp and a 10-1 ratio for teen camp. During free play during early or late care, the ratio can vary.
What precautions do you take to handle the summer heat?
During the summer we are always conscious of the weather conditions, including when the heat may cause us to modify our plan for the day. Modifications are dependent on the exact conditions, but we may change a highly-active activity to one that is less active. If it's too hot to go outside, then we use another area in the school. At times, we may use the splash pad at Skinner Park to cool down as well.
Camp Policies
Sibling Discount Policy
Any sibling from the same family unit qualifies for a 10% discount on camp fees. The sibling whose enrollment is equal to or of lesser value is the sibling that receives a discount. Extended family members do not qualify for the sibling discount.
Illness policy
Superstars Summer Camp should be notified via text, phone, or email (630.408.8823 or superstarssummer@gmail.com) if a child is ill, especially if the illness is communicable. We track the instances of communicable diseases at camp and, when appropriate, will notify parents of all children that may have been exposed while respecting the confidentiality of campers and family involved.
Communicable diseases
Campers who have communicable diseases will be sent home and may not return to camp until the illness has been treated successfully and the camper is symptom free.
Lice
Campers who have the signs of head lice (itching, head irritation, etc.) will be removed from their group and escorted to the main office by someone from our Leadership Team. If we believe there is a possibility of head lice we will ask the family to pick the camper up from camp. In order to return to camp, a camper must have had all active lice removed from his or her hair & no longer show any signs of infestation, itching or irritation.
Discipline Policy
Superstars Camp staff uses the positive techniques of guidance, including logical or natural consequences applied in problem situations, redirection of children to more acceptable behavior, anticipation of and elimination of potential problems and encouragement of appropriate behavior rather than comparison, competition or criticism. Consistent and clear rules are established. Staff members encourage children to solve problems rather than imposing solutions and help children to recognize and respect one another’s feelings. Counselors encourage pro-social behavior such as cooperation, helping, taking turns and constructive verbal communication to solve problems. The goal is to help children internalize rules and become self-directed in their behavior.
Superstars Camp reserves the right to dismiss a child for consistent behavior that makes it difficult or impossible for the staff to meet his/her needs and/or the needs of other children in the group. This will occur without a refund (or portion thereof) or credit towards a future program. This will occur only after parent/staff discussion has occurred.
Potty Training Policy
All campers attending Superstars Camp are expected to be fully potty trained by their first day of camp. We ask parents to provide an extra set of clothes with campers for all of our campers. If an accident happens at camp, our Leadership Team will notify the camper's parents/guardians.
Policy on Proration, Refunds, & Credits
If you wish to cancel your registration or stay at camp you may do so at any time and receive a refund for any and all unused weeks of camp. Families that notify us of camper absences before the start of camp may be billed on a prorated basis should their camper(s) miss more than one day in a given week. We do not prorate refunds at any time or for any reason. Any camper dismissed for disciplinary reasons will not receive any sort of a refund or credit.
Electronic Device Policy
Superstars Camp believes that any and all electronic devices are not necessary for a camper to have a great experience at camp and we strongly recommend leaving such devices at home. In instances where the family deems it appropriate to send a device, the use of the device will be allowed only during early/late care and the device will be locked up during the entirety of the structured camp day.
