"Superstar" is a 1969 song written by Bonnie Bramlett and Leon Russell, with a songwriting credit also given to Delaney Bramlett,[1] that has been a hit for many artists in different genres in the years since. The best-known versions are by the Carpenters in 1971, and by Luther Vandross in 1983.

In its first recorded incarnation, the song was called "Groupie (Superstar)", and was released in December 1969 as the B-side of the Delaney & Bonnie single "Comin' Home". Released by Atco Records in the United States and Atlantic Records in the rest of the world, the full credit on the single was "Delaney & Bonnie and Friends featuring Eric Clapton".

"Superstar" became most popular after its treatment by the Carpenters. Richard Carpenter became aware of the song after watching Bette Midler sing it on the February 15, 1971 edition of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.[2]

Produced by Richard Carpenter with Jack Daugherty, it was recorded using members of the Wrecking Crew, a famed collection of Los Angeles-area session musicians. Because the original subject matter of the song was more risqu than was typical for the Carpenters, Richard changed a lyric in the second verse from "And I can hardly wait/To sleep with you again" to the less suggestive "And I can hardly wait/To be with you again."[4] The track was finished in one take.[5]

In the early 1980s, American R&B/soul singer-songwriter Luther Vandross had "Superstar" in his stage act, sometimes in a rendition that stretched to 12 minutes, with vocal interpolations and an interpretive dancer.

By now his signature song, Studdard recorded "Superstar" as the B-side of his June 2003 first single and number two hit, "Flying Without Wings". Studdard earned a 2004 Grammy Award nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for "Superstar", but he lost to his own idol, Vandross, who won for "Dance with My Father". Studdard's treatment was also included on his December 2003 debut album, Soulful.

Exactly what the title says. With the top 10 difficult songs event done on JYP, ongoing on BTS and upcoming on SMT, I was just wondering...if you combine all the songs from the 3 games, including hidden stage songs, which among all of them has THE hardest beatmap out there? At least give your top 5, if possible.

So I've been working on this project for the past few days and it's finally done! It is basically a web app that I built where you can easily view the current ongoing events, song bonuses and more in Superstar JYPNation. This is what I wished I had back when I used to play this game a lot and now that I have the knowledge to create one, here you go. I will go through the main features one by one.

This is where the magic begins. Below the Active Events you can see a list of songs that currently have additional bonus reward in game, categorized by groups. Speaking of groups, I've only added TWICE and ITZY in the database for now. I'll add more in the future and let me know if there's any group you want me to add onto the list. You can filter the groups using the dropdown menu right below the title. You can also choose a custom date and see what songs have bonus reward on that day. The percentage of the bonus score is written at top left of the album card. (Note: the list will automatically be revalidated every half an hour so you can expect the changes for a new day(KST) in less than 30 mins)

You can also view additional information about the groups, artists and their albums. Simply go to the Artists or Albums page by clicking on the links in the navigation bar. (Note: The albums and songs displayed here are only the ones included in the game.)

The sad passing of Leon Russell in November 2016 had many of us reappraising both his career achievements and his marvellous songbook. The posthumous release of his final album On A Distant Shore was another reminder of his legacy. Today we look at one of his most-covered numbers with the help of Leon himself, who reveals its little-known connection to a major female vocalist from the mid-1960s onwards.

Thankfully, Tillmann decided to resurrect Har Mar Superstar for his new album Dark Touches, which bears fruit in the form of silly, contagious tracks like "Tall Boy." Originally written for Britney Spears, the song hasn't really changed for its male perspective, although a can-opening sound effect makes it clear that Tillmann is lusting for a large beer rather than a lanky male. Otherwise, the tune is pure synth-pop and electro-cheese of the most addictive variety, right down to its video-game sound effects and giddy double entendres.

"Antichrist Superstar" is the twelfth track on the 1996 release Antichrist Superstar. A video (see below) and a promotional version of the single were made for the track, but the single was never commercially released. Like on the album's ninety-ninth track, "Antichrist Superstar" ends with the phrase "When you are suffering, know that I had betrayed you" sampled repeatedly. The original version of the song however ended with a different phrase, "You might as well kill yourself, you are already dead." This alternate sample can be heard on the live album The Last Tour on Earth.

The music video for the song, entitled "Anti-Christ Superstar", directed by E. Elias Merhige and co-directed by Manson, was filmed sometime during 1996, but remain officially unreleased. It was originally screened at the 1997 San Francisco Film Festival as part of a program titled "Newly Minted Memories". It won a Golden Gate Certificate of Merit in the "Music Video" category.

Merhige used military footage from different countries and different wars that depicted the fascist aspect of the song. However, Manson was not quite sure that it represented the criticism that the subject matter deserved. Ultimately, release of the video was vetoed by Interscope, who was appalled by the quality of the cinematography. The frontman, for his part, expressed interest in seeing its release someday, quipping: "that's not to say it won't be seen but I'm not sure if [Merhige] ever had a fair chance of finishing it because of the record company."

For over 14 years the film was shelved by Interscope.[1] Despite this, on June 19, 2010, the music video was leaked in its entirety on Youtube.[1] The leaked video is 5 minutes and 43 seconds in length although, according to the title card, its total run time is 5 minutes and 23 seconds.[1] It was filmed by Merhige in black and white, incorporating footage from Begotten as well as the military warfare footage.[1] Original scenes including Manson were also filmed where he is seen playing a demagogue in a business suit tearing pages out of a bible from the top of a podium similar to his live performance of the song.[1] Henry S. Rosenthal of San Francisco-based film company Complex Corporation mentioned his involvement in the production of the video and he is indeed credited in the film's intertitle.[1]

If "Painting Pictures" doesn't get back on streaming services, it's likely to fall off the charts next week. Despite that setback, the song's success has led to a major label bidding war for Superstar Pride according to HitsDailyDouble.

The lyrics poetically observe the pain that comes with realizing that love is not reciprocated. The chorus of Superstar by Carpenters is especially memorable and explains the central message of the song: 006ab0faaa
