If you want a wired, closed-back isolation solution for drumming and studio work that blocks out the world, choose Superlux HD667; if you need a wireless in-ear monitoring system with a built-in microphone for live vocals or brass instruments, choose Depusheng T9-2. These two products serve fundamentally different purposes, and picking the wrong one will leave you frustrated before you even play your first note. One is a heavy-duty headphone designed to protect your ears from loud percussion while hearing every nuance of the kit; the other is a radio-frequency transmitter and receiver pair meant to give singers and horn players freedom of movement on stage without cables dragging them down.
• Superlux HD667: Strengths include 40mm neodymium drivers with high sensitivity (102 dB) and superior passive noise isolation for drummers; the trade-off is it is strictly wired with no battery life but requires a direct connection.
• Depusheng T9-2: Strengths include zero-latency wireless transmission over 50 meters and a built-in condenser microphone for capturing vocals; the trade-off is an in-ear form factor that may not suit those who prefer over-ear comfort and has a shorter battery life than some competitors.
• Best for: Choose Superlux if you are a drummer or recording engineer needing isolation; choose Depusheng if you are a vocalist or instrumentalist needing wireless mobility.
The Superlux HD667 is engineered with a singular, aggressive purpose: it is a tool for drummers. If you spend hours rehearsing with an acoustic kit or playing live gigs where the volume can become physically overwhelming, this headphone is designed to be your shield. The design centers on a closed-back enclosure made from metal and plastic, which physically blocks external sound rather than relying on electronic cancellation. This is critical because electronic noise cancellation often introduces a hiss or pressure feeling that many musicians find distracting during intense practice sessions. Instead, the HD667 relies on premium ear cushions and a tight seal to keep the roar of the drums contained within the cups, allowing you to hear the nuances of your own playing without cranking the volume to dangerous levels.
The audio performance is driven by 40mm neodymium drivers that boast a frequency response ranging from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. For a drummer, this range is vital. You need to feel the thud of the kick drum in the lower frequencies while simultaneously hearing the crisp attack of the hi-hats and cymbals in the highs. With a sensitivity rating of 102 dB, these headphones are efficient enough to produce loud volumes even when connected to lower-power devices, ensuring you never miss a detail in your mix. The impedance sits at 32 ohms, making them compatible with a wide array of studio interfaces and amplifiers without requiring a dedicated headphone amplifier.

However, the trade-off for this level of isolation and power is connectivity. The HD667 is a wired device. It comes with a 2-meter detachable cable featuring an inline volume control, which is a practical feature for adjusting levels quickly during a session without reaching for your phone or mixer. The cable ends with a gold-plated stereo mini plug and includes a 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm adapter, ensuring it fits directly into most drum monitors, guitar amps, and studio gear. There is no battery to charge, no Bluetooth pairing to wait for, and no risk of signal dropouts. But this also means you are tethered to your source. If you are looking for a "gaming headset for gym" scenarios where you might move around a room, or if you need to run across a stage, this wired constraint makes it impractical.
The build quality feels robust, weighing in at 335 grams (without the cable). While that weight is noticeable compared to ultra-light consumer earbuds, the balanced distribution and the inclusion of a soft velvet pouch for travel suggest this is built for longevity. It is not a toy; it is professional gear. The foldable design helps with portability, but the primary use case remains stationary or semi-stationary environments like a rehearsal room, a home studio, or a stage where the musician stays in one spot. If you value accuracy and isolation over mobility, this is the machine you want.
In stark contrast to the stationary nature of the Superlux, the Depusheng T9-2 is built for movement. This is not just a pair of headphones; it is a complete wireless in-ear monitoring system consisting of a receiver unit that goes in your ear and a transmitter clip that attaches to your clothing. The core appeal here is freedom. Using RF (radio frequency) technology, the system promises a transmission distance of over 50 meters, which is more than enough to cover any standard stage or large rehearsal space. For a singer, a trumpet player, or anyone performing with a wind instrument, the ability to step away from a speaker or amp without losing audio fidelity is transformative.
The defining feature of the T9-2 is its low-latency capability. In wireless audio, delay is the enemy. If there is a lag between when you sing or play and when you hear yourself, your timing will suffer, and your pitch will drift. This system utilizes ultra-low latency technology to ensure that the sound reaches your ears virtually instantly. This allows vocalists to monitor their own voice in real-time with high fidelity, maintaining perfect rhythm and intonation even as they move. The frequency range matches the Superlux at 20Hz to 20,000Hz, covering the full spectrum of human hearing, but the delivery method changes everything about the experience.
Another critical differentiator is the built-in highly sensitive condenser microphone on the transmitter. This allows the system to capture the soundtrack of an instrument directly. Whether you are playing a trumpet, a trombone, or singing into a handheld mic, the transmitter picks up the sound and sends it wirelessly to your in-ear receiver. This turns the T9-2 into a personal monitoring solution for live performances, concerts, and band exercises. The system supports automatic pairing, meaning once you turn on both the transmitter and receiver, connecting takes only a few seconds by pressing a button. It is designed for ease of operation in high-pressure situations where you cannot afford fumbling with settings.
Battery life is the primary consideration here. The manufacturer states an average battery life of 6 hours, with a charge time of 1 hour. While this covers most set lists and practice sessions, it does require management. You cannot simply leave it plugged in forever; you must remember to charge it. The device uses plastic construction and is an in-ear design, which offers excellent portability and a modern style, but it lacks the over-ear cushioning of the Superlux. For long-term wear, especially in hot environments like a gym or under stage lights, the in-ear form factor might cause fatigue for some users after several hours. However, for those who prioritize being untethered and needing to capture their own instrument's sound, the trade-offs are negligible. It is the ideal choice for a "best wireless headset for gym" or stage performance where you need to move freely.
• Best for Drummers and Percussionists → Superlux HD667: The closed-back design and high SPL sensitivity are specifically tuned to handle the physical intensity of drumming without letting outside noise in.

• Best for Ease of Setup → Depusheng T9-2: Automatic pairing and push-button operation make it incredibly fast to deploy for quick rehearsals or last-minute gigs.
After analyzing the specifications and intended use cases, I would buy the Depusheng T9-2 if my goal was to use a "gaming headset for gym" scenario or for live performance where movement is key. The wireless capability and the built-in microphone offer a versatility that the wired Superlux simply cannot match. However, if I were sitting behind a drum kit in a small room, the Superlux HD667 would be my absolute choice. The passive isolation is superior for blocking out chaotic environments, and the 40mm drivers provide the specific tonal accuracy needed for percussion.
For a general recommendation to someone torn between these two, I look at the context. If you are in a noisy gym or a loud rehearsal space and need to isolate yourself completely, go with Superlux. If you need to sing, play a wind instrument, or simply want to avoid cables while working out, the Depusheng T9-2 is the clear winner. The wireless freedom is a game-changer for active use, whereas the Superlux is a specialized tool for a specific musical role.
The Depusheng T9-2 is better suited for the gym due to its wireless design and lightweight in-ear form factor, which prevents cables from getting caught on equipment. The Superlux HD667 is too bulky and wired for dynamic exercise, though its isolation could help block gym noise if you are stationary.
No, the Depusheng T9-2 features a built-in highly sensitive condenser microphone on the transmitter unit, so you do not need to purchase a separate mic to capture your voice or instrument.
You will likely need the included 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm adapter or a specific cable if your smartphone does not have a 3.5 mm jack, as the headphones come with a standard stereo mini plug and a 6.35 mm adapter for larger equipment.
The system provides an average battery life of 6 hours on a single charge, which is sufficient for most practice sessions and live performances, with a charging time of approximately 1 hour.
