Jan 1st 2017: The Kim Lab will start in June, 2017.

Jun 6th 2017: Official starting but there is nothing yet.

Jun 15th 2017: The first equipment of the Kim lab was delivered. It is a squeeze wash bottle.

July 10th 2017: A new lab member, Yun-Jeong Choe, Ph.D., joined. 

Aug 30th 2017: A new lab member, Minwoo Baek, Ph.D., joined.

Oct 24th 2017: We cooked our own fly food successfully!!

Nov 6th 2017: Our flyroom is ready!!

Nov 13th 2017: Five undergraduate students joined: Anna Huy, Sierrah Skudlarek, Emilie Ziebarth, Austin Kurtz and Delaney Coy.

Nov 22th 2017: We were selected for the Walline Neuroscience Discovery fund!!!!

Dec 5th 2017: Nobody will believe this news. Dr. Tucker LeBien, Vice Dean for Research, Medical School, introduced me and my project briefly at the Wallin Neuroscience Discovery Awards. He said my project got a perfect score. Thank you, Walline family!!

Dec 6th 2017: A paper that I contributed at the St. Jude, "Selective Modulation of the Androgen Receptor Activation Function-2 Domain Rescues Degeneration in Spinal Bulbar Muscular Atrophy" got accepted by Nature Medicine. Congratulations, everybody!!

Jan 12th 2018: There was the UMN Fly meeting at Duluth today. Minwoo and Yun-Jeong presented their work successfully. Good Job!!

Feb 19th 2018: Minwoo gave a talk in our lab bench talk series.

Feb 23rd 2018: Minwoo and Yun-Jeong presented their work on the UMN Rare Disease Day.

Mar 5th 2018: Yun-Jeong gave a talk in our lab bench talk series.

Aug 4th 2018: Nam Chul gave a talk in the US-Korea Conference (UKC2018).

Oct 5th 2018: Yun-Jeong presented her work in the DBC lab meeting. Good job!!

Oct 15th 2018: A new undergrad student, Maddie Chalmers joined.

Dec 20th 2018: We were selected to receive the 2019 Engebretson Drug Design and Development Grant Award with the Todd Doran lab. Yay!!

Mar 28th 2019: We presented our new data at the 60th Drosophila meeting (Yun-Jeong and Minwoo's work on CHCHD10).

April 26th 2019: Minwoo presented his work at the UMN intercampus Drosophila meeting.

May 9th 2019: We will be funded for next two years by the Innovative project award of American Heart Association. We will study Liquid-liquid phase separation in Mitochondria. It will be fun!!

May 21st 2019: A graduate student, Ben Christopherson joined 

June 26th 2019: Nam Chul gave a talk at the UMDF Mitochondrial Medicine 2019 Conference. 

August 15th 2019: We will be supported by the NINDS-NIA R56 award. More Money for our science!!

August 16th 2019: Minwoo won third place in the UKC2019 conference poster presentation. Congratulations!!

September 3rd, 2019: Minwoo and Yun-Jeong's manuscript was uploaed in BioRxiv. The first manuscript from our lab. Numerous errors should be fixed though.

September 16th, 2019: Swati Maitra and Jihye Kim joined as a Post-doc and researcher and got a training for iPSC culture from Dr. Kyba's laboratory.

September 23rd 2019: Minwoo presented his work at the lab bench talk Duluth.

October 7th, 2019: We attended 2019 UMN Developmental Biology Symposium and Minwoo presented his poster.

October 21st, 2019: Minwoo and Yun-Jeong's Poster was presented in 2019 SfN meeting.

January 13th, 2020: A new Nikon Crest X-light2 spinning disk confocal microscope has been installed in the lab.

February 10th, 2020:  A undergraduate student, Thi Ta joined the Kim lab.

March 18th, 2020: We hibernated all laboratory activity except maintaining fly stocks due to COVID19.

June 1st, 2020: We re-initiated our laboratory activity at 1/3 capacity for Minwoo's manuscript revision.

November 23rd, 2020: An undergrad researcher, Maddie, uploaded her micropublication manuscript on BioRxiv. https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.11.20.375360v1

March 26th, 2021: Our new manuscript entitled "TDP-43 and PINK1 mediate CHCHD10S59L mutation–induced defects in Drosophila and in vitro" has been published. Congratulations! https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-021-22145-9

May 17th, 2021: Oneman lab for three months. Yay!!

July 14th, 2021: Selected for American Heart Association COVID Relief Supplement Funding. Thank you very much! Some more research!!

Aug 23rd, 2021: Maddie came back as an MS student.

Nov 11th, 2021: Seungjae Oh joined as a research scientist.

Jun, 2022: Anna Gross joined as a SCoPE scholar.

Oct, 2022: Tate Madson, Qasim Mujteba, and Hee Su Park joined as undergrad researchers.

Dec, 2022: We won the Wallin neuroscience discovery fund again!!

Feb, 2023: Maddie's undergrad project has been accepted for publication in BMC Research Notes!
