Help support SUNY Potsdam Esports!
On a cool and crisp early November morning, student athletes from teams representing SUNY Potsdam took part in the annual Leaf Raking Day at various sites around the Village of Potsdam.
For the first time, the Esports team decided to lend a helping hand and rake leaves at Bayside Cemetery, located alongside the Raquette River, and a private residence on Lawrence Avenue with members of the women's soccer team.
"There are some things in life that you just can't do alone, or even on a small team" said Anthony Betrus, Esports Director at SUNY Potsdam.
Several members of the team took time out of their busy schedules on Sunday, November 3 to team up outside of the Esports world and accomplish a simple goal: Helping to make the Potsdam community a great place to live, work, and play.
"As we've been building the Esports teams, something I found was missing was a sense of being on a team from our players" said Chris Falcon, Esports President and captain of the Overwatch and League of Legends "A" teams. "This helped develop communication skills they desperately needed and they are now working as a team and building off each other."
Betrus saw Leaf Raking Day as an opportunity to not only build team unity, but an opportunity for the team to help clean up a historic place in Potsdam and teach the Esports athletes about the importance of working together in all facets of life.
"Sometimes big jobs call for big teams working together." Betrus added. "It is a good thing when we all can get together to be part of that bigger team."
