Help support SUNY Potsdam Esports!
As a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic and logistics that go with the current situation, the ECAC made the difficult decision on Monday, March 16 to cancel the Spring 2020 ECAC Esports season for all games, effective immediately.
"Survey data showed that an overwhelming percentage of teams would be dropping out due to an inability to play from home" said Lydia Fister, ECAC Esports Director.
"Such an amount that the competitive integrity of the season was completely compromised."
"While we are disappointed that our competitive seasons have ended early, we certainly agree with the ECAC's decision to put the health and safety of our athletes first" said Dr. Anthony Betrus, SUNY Potsdam Esports Program Director.
"We will take this time and get better on all fronts in time for the Fall!" added Chris Falcon, Esports President and captain of the League of Legends and Overwatch teams.
The ECAC is planning a series of informal tournaments, while SUNY Potsdam Esports' Content Creation Team is putting together some interesting content to be released on Twitch, YouTube, and Twitter throughout the rest of the semester.
