Short bio: Sunwoo Lee is a tenure-track assistant professor in Computer Science and Engineering at Inha University, South Korea. He is currently the director of Large-Scale Machine Learning Systems lab (LMLS-Lab). Before joining Inha, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher for University of Southern California (USC), under the supervision of Prof. Salman Avestimehr. He earned his Ph.D. from Northwestern University. He was a member of CUCIS and advised by Prof. Alok Choudhary and Prof. Wei-keng Liao. Prior to that, he received his M.S. and B.S. degrees from Hanyang University, South Korea. Before receiving his Ph.D., he worked as a system software researcher at Samsung Electronics, Memory Solutions Lab. His research interests lie in the intersection of Machine Learning and High-Performance Computing. Specifically, he focuses on designing and implementing large-scale system-aware Machine Learning algorithms and applying them to real-world problems.
My research topics include:
Large-scale Machine Learning systems
System-efficient Federated Learning
Applied Deep Learning / neuromorphic computing
High-Performance Computing (parallel computing and I/O)
