Sunset Pride Float
on Waverly's Cedar River
June 5, 2025
Calling all LGBTQIA+ folks in the area and their allies
Let's hangout, celebrate, and paddle down the river in solidarity (or cheer on others from the bridge or the banks). The current political landscape is messy and unpredictable; let's gather and celebrate the wonderful diversity of humanity and our community. This lighthearted escape from harsh social and political realities will feature music and snow cones before those interested embark on a parade-style float down the river from the Waverly Area Veteran's Post down to Kohlmann Park.
Anyone interested in positively participating in an LGBTQIA+ pride event that is uniquely Waverly.
A gathering, and then a river float down the Cedar River from the Waverly Area Veteran's Post to Kohlmann Park.
June 5, 2025
Gathering and registration begins at 6:30 pm. Registration closes at 7:20 pm so boats can load into the river and begin floating by 7:30 pm. Expect to dock at Kohlmann Park around 8:30 pm.
Drop your boats off and register at the Waverly Area Veterans Post (WAVP), then drive your vehicles to park at Kohlmann Park. Take a shuttle (provided) back to WAVP.
Feeling and showing pride in who you are is critical to positive self-identity. Pride events help those who feel marginalized experience the support of their community and serve to combat the toxic messaging on social media and otherwise. The Waverly Human Equity and Diversity Commission is committed to fostering a culture of belonging for all citizens of Waverly. This is one way to send a message to queer folks that they are seen, loved, and embraced.
