Hi my name is _________ and I’m your constituent living in ______________. My phone number is ________________. I’m calling today to ask that you pass funding for public transit in this year’s budget bill.
Public transit is vital to our communities. In fact this bill doesn’t go far enough with Pittsburgh Regional Transit only getting an additional $42 million, less than half of their $117 million shortfall.
[OPTION 1] I use public transit often as a _____________________. The current funding cuts would lead to 40% of bus lines being and the vast majority of routes having their services reduced. This would leave without the critical lifelines I need to __________________________________________ and would have to rely on other people to drive me or quit doing those things.
[OPTION 2]: Transit is vital to urban, rural and suburban communities without transit one needs to buy a car to be able to work or get to a doctors appointment or see friends, and many people especially those who are senior citizens, disabled or starting out in life cannot use or afford one either for medical or financing reasons. Transit contributes greatly to our economy and helping people make the most of their lives. Transit is freedom.
[OPTION 3]: Transit reduces traffic congestion by reducing the number of vehicles on road, making sure people get to their destinations on time, and also decreasing air pollution. It helps make sure that more people get where they are going on time, and reduces wear and tear on our roads from shear number of vehicles that drive them everyday.
[OPTION 4]: The NFL draft is coming to Pittsburgh. Do we really want people coming into Pittsburgh saying how terrible Pittsburgh is because of bus cuts.
[OPTION 5]: The cuts would lead to a loss of 1,000 jobs from Allegheny County and surrounding areas directly, and it would lead to 50,000 jobs losing access to public transit including 180,000 residents. Those without a car would be forced simply not to work, especially those working at night when there would be no way to get home.
[OPTION 6]: The elderly and disabled and those who otherwise cannot drive or are not safe to drive would not be able to get to doctors appointments, see loved ones or do anything. They would simply die in their homes, many without an income.
[OPTION 7]: Public transit is safe investment for the government, they allow those would otherwise be unable to get to work to get to work. Its been shown that for every $1 invested in public transportation generates $5 in economic returns in jobs and economic activity. https://www.apta.com/public-transit-keeps-america-moving-forward/
Please pass this bill to fund public transit throughout Pennsylvania!

Hi, my name is (Your name). I live at (zip code) and my phone number is (phone number).
I’m calling to urge (Representative’s name) to support House Bill 170
House Bill 170, would require health and safety buffer zones of 2,500 feet between fracking sites and schools, homes, hospitals, and daycares.
It's been known that children near fracking sites have a 5-7 higher chance of developing lymphoma and are twice as likely to develop leukemia. Its also known the elderly living near fracking sites are of a higher chance of death. Its common for those living near fracking sites to have asthma, skin and respiratory irritation, rashes, migraines, and nosebleeds, and they are at higher risk for organ damage and cancer.
This is a common sense bill to keep our kids safe from this industry. Nobody should live next to a fracking site.
Again, please support House Bill 170. Thank you for your time!

Hi, my name is (Your name). I live at (zip code) and my phone number is (phone number).
I’m calling to urge (Representative’s name) to support House Bill 1656.
House Bill 1656, which has bipartisan and bicameral support, would protect Pennsylvanians from the most dangerous kind of petrochemical wells: fracking waste injection wells.
Fracking waste injection wells are extraordinarily dangerous to those who live near them. The waste ends up in the water, air, and soil for miles around. There simply is no way to do this safely.
Article 1, Section 27 of the Pennsylvania Constitution guarantees Pennsylvanians the right to clean air and water. The legislature must follow the lead of communities across the state, red and blue, rich and poor, that have enacted ordinances to protect themselves from injection wells.
Again, please support House Bill 1656. Thank you for your time!

Hi, my name is (Your name). I live at (zip code) and my phone number is (phone number).
I’m calling to urge (Representative’s name) to support PA Senate Bill 550.
Senate Bill 550, which has bipartisan support, would close a loophole and allow communities to build mid-scale community solar installations that benefit all residents.
Again, please support Senate Bill 550. Thank you for your time!
