If you want a discreet, stylish earbud with all-day battery life for casual TV watching and calls, choose SUNOL E50; if you need situational awareness, open-ear comfort, and the latest connectivity for active use, choose AYI Open Ear Air.
• SUNOL E50: Offers a 6-hour single charge with a massive 72-hour total endurance in the case, featuring a lipstick-style design that is nearly invisible; however, its in-ear shape blocks out ambient sound rather than letting it in. Best for users who prioritize long listening sessions and a compact, fashionable look while sitting or traveling.
• AYI Open Ear Air: Delivers superior comfort for extended wear via bone conduction technology that keeps ears open to the environment, paired with Bluetooth 5.4 for faster pairing; yet it sacrifices the deep bass isolation of traditional earbuds and has a shorter 10-hour single-battery window. Best for runners, office workers needing awareness, or anyone sensitive to in-ear pressure.
The SUNOL E50 is built around a very specific aesthetic and functional niche: small, stylish, and incredibly portable. The "lipstick" design is not just a marketing gimmick; it translates to a miniaturized form factor that fits snugly inside the ear canal without protruding much. This makes it an excellent choice for women and teens who want headphones that disappear when worn. The rounded tip and ABS enclosure are engineered to be comfortable for long periods, provided you do not have a strong aversion to having something inside your ear canal.
For someone using these specifically for tv watching, the in-ear seal offers a significant advantage. The dynamic driver and 105 dB sensitivity ensure that dialogue and background scores come through clearly without external noise interference. If you sit on a couch and want to feel like you are in a private theater, the passive isolation of the E50 does the heavy lifting. The touch-control interface allows you to pause, play, or take calls with a simple tap, which is ideal for navigating a movie or a game session without fumbling for a phone.
The standout feature here is undoubtedly the battery endurance. With a built-in lithium-polymer battery lasting six hours per charge and a charging bin that extends that playtime to three full days (72 hours), you rarely need to think about power. You can watch multiple episodes of your favorite show over several days before the case itself needs a recharge. The 40-minute quick charge time means even if you forget to charge it overnight, a short burst while you get ready in the morning is enough to get you through a day. However, if you are looking for a best multipoint gaming headset for tv watching that requires constant connection to multiple devices simultaneously, this model connects to one device at a time via Bluetooth 5.3, so it may not fit complex multi-device setups.

You should skip the SUNOL E50 if you have sensitive ear canals or if you plan to wear them while running outdoors where hearing traffic is critical. The active noise cancellation mentioned in the specs likely refers to signal suppression for calls rather than environmental blocking, meaning the in-ear design still physically blocks some outside noise. If you prefer to hear your surroundings while enjoying audio, this sealed design might feel too isolating.
The AYI Open Ear Air takes a completely different approach by utilizing bone conduction technology. Instead of sealing off your ear canal, these headphones rest on the cheekbones and transmit sound vibrations directly to the inner ear. This "open ear" placement ensures zero physical blockage, making them virtually pain-free even after hours of use. For anyone who finds traditional earbuds uncomfortable or causes itching and pressure buildup, this is the logical alternative. The IPX4 waterproof rating confirms they can handle sweat during intense workouts or light rain, making them robust for active lifestyles.
When considering these for gaming headphones for tv watching, the experience shifts from immersion to awareness. Because the drivers do not occlude the ear, you can hear the TV audio while simultaneously hearing your family members talking in the room or a doorbell ringing. This is a major safety and social benefit. The Bluetooth 5.4 chip provides a more stable connection and lower power consumption compared to older generations, ensuring that lag is minimized during gaming or video streaming. The active noise cancellation here focuses on processing voice calls to make them clear, rather than silencing the room, which aligns perfectly with the open-ear philosophy.
However, the trade-off lies in the battery life and the nature of the sound delivery. While the single charge lasts 10 hours, which is respectable, it does not match the sheer longevity of the SUNOL E50's case system. You will need to charge the buds themselves more frequently if you are binge-watching content over several days without access to a charger. Additionally, bone conduction drivers generally do not produce the same deep, thumping bass as dynamic drivers found in the E50. If you are a bass-head looking for a cinematic audio experience, you might find the sound profile of the AYI slightly thin. These are not designed for deep immersion but for clarity and comfort.
This product is ideal for the user who wants to work, listen to podcasts, or watch kids headphones for tv watching scenarios where supervision is needed. A parent could watch a cartoon with their child and still hear if the child needs help. The lightweight design ensures they won't slip during movement, and the contemporary style suits both men and women who value function over fashion. If you need a reliable tool for outdoor activities where situational awareness is non-negotiable, this is the clear winner.
• Best for battery life → SUNOL E50: The 72-hour total playtime with the charging case beats the 10-hour standalone limit of the AYI significantly for marathon viewing sessions.
• Best for comfort during long wear → AYI Open Ear Air: The open-ear bone conduction design eliminates ear fatigue and pressure, unlike the in-ear E50.
• Best for audio isolation → SUNOL E50: The in-ear seal blocks out distractions, offering a more focused listening experience for movies and games.
• Best for situational awareness → AYI Open Ear Air: Keeps your ears open to your environment, essential for safety during sports or monitoring household activity.
• Best for modern connectivity → AYI Open Ear Air: Bluetooth 5.4 offers faster pairing and better stability than the 5.3 standard found in the SUNOL.
• Best for discreet fashion → SUNOL E50: The lipstick-style mini design is smaller and less visible than the open-ear frame of the AYI.
• Best for call clarity in noisy environments → Both offer Active Noise Cancellation, but the SUNOL relies on microphone suppression while the AYI uses bone conduction for clearer voice pickup.
• Best for water resistance → Tie: Both carry an IPX4 rating, suitable for sweat and light splashes, though the open design of the AYI drains water differently than the sealed E50.
After weighing the specifications and real-world applications, I would personally buy the SUNOL E50 for my primary TV watching setup. The sheer convenience of never having to worry about charging the earbuds themselves for days, combined with the immersive, isolated sound quality, creates a superior home entertainment experience. The in-ear design ensures I don't miss a word of dialogue, and the stylish, compact form factor makes it easy to grab and go. While the AYI is fantastic for active users who need to hear the world around them, for the specific goal of relaxing and watching television, the battery endurance and audio focus of the SUNOL E50 simply win out.
The SUNOL E50 is a great option for kids headphones for tv watching due to its small, secure fit and limited volume output risks from the sealed design, whereas the AYI is better if the child needs to remain aware of their surroundings while playing.
Bone conduction drivers naturally produce less low-frequency bass than the dynamic drivers in the SUNOL E50, resulting in a clearer, more vocal-focused sound profile rather than a heavy bass experience.
You get 6 hours of continuous playback on a single charge, but the included charging case extends the total usage time to approximately 72 hours (3 days) before the case itself needs recharging.
Yes, the Bluetooth 5.4 technology ensures low latency and stable connections, making it a viable choice for gaming headphones for tv watching, especially if you need to hear teammates or family members nearby.
