I am a student artist who loves and enjoys art. I have the passion to be the best in this field.
Drawing has been my favorite thing to do since I was young. I used to draw on sketchbooks as a hobby and make my own stories in it, but now I feel like I want to work in this field beyond just a hobby. I'm interested in animation and illustration, and I'm doing research with various works to find the best field for me. If I become an animator in the future, I would like to work at a huge animation studio like Pixar and Disney. As they are the studios that have created many famous film works, it has a deep history in the animation field and has talented people with various skills. I would like to work in such an environment and contribute to creating more animated films to come by becoming part of the organization. Also, if I work in the field of illustration, I want to be an illustrator of children's book cover. Since I was young, I have been interested in the cover of fairy tale books. If I found a book that has a cover page that catches my eyes, I always asked my mom to buy it (I didn't really care about the story though). Therefore, it is my other dream to become an illustrator who creates book covers that children will like in the future.

This drawing is a work that expresses my portrait filled with fruits and vegetables. I was inspired by the works of Italian painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo, and also applied cross-contour drawing techniques for each object.
I first started looking for vegetables or fruits similar to each part of my face. The first thing I thought of was that my cheekbone is similar to the shape of sweet potatoes. Next, I found that my lips might be expressed as pistachios. The process of finding food that can fit into my face one by one in this way was very fun, and very interesting work for me. Once I was done with it, I filled the various fruits and vegetables that drawn as my portrait with a cross-contour technique. This method of expressing the three-dimensional effect of each object using horizontal, vertical, or both, required quite a lot of concentration. Because I had to care about the thickness and spacing of the lines to express the object's realism only with lines.
After the work was completed, I think this project was a bit difficult because it required my creativity and skills at the same time, but I think it was also very fun that much. Later on, I would like to fill someone's portrait with other kinds of objects.

This work was about making a story out of steel objects. I applied my situation to this work. There was a time when I took school classes online because of the Corona pandemic. I had to sit at my desk and watch my laptop screen all day long, and even when I came back to Korea at the end of the semester, I had to wake up early in the morning and take classes because of the time difference, which is the exact opposite of Canada. It was a very hard time for me, but I wanted to express the situation which was very unusual in a fun way with my work.
I wanted to work with objects that were actually in my house or room. I simply used a pencil sharpener to give the impression that I am holding my chin on the desk and placed small forks on both sides to show my hands on the desk. Lastly, by placing a board clip in front of it, I completed the image of the object staring at the screen on the laptop. I have now begun to draw each of these completed structures on paper exactly the same. After sketching, extreme concentration and observation were needed in the process of inserting light and dark into the objects with fine lines. In this process, I also found that the difference between the bright and dark parts are extreme for the texture of steel objects.
This project was very interesting to me that I adapted the story about myself In the artwork only using pencils. Also the process of taking a reference picture of my work using the objects that I actually own was fun.

This work first started with making a logo that symbolizes me. My Korean name, "Sunin" has a pronunciation that is very similar to "cactus," in Korean. This has been my nickname ever since I was a child, and I like it quite a lot. Therefore, I drew the cactus that represents me and used it as my logo, and I also marked my initials in the shape of a flowerpot under the cactus.

Whenever I bring up the cactus story from the beginning to make it easy to remember my name, people always like it and laugh. By doing so, I can make it easier and more impressive for people to remember my name. This is why I put my logo that is cactus and initial under it as my business card.
I placed the logo that I first made to my own business card. As much as the cactus is in it, I wanted to design it with greenery and a clean theme, so I simply unified the font and the logo color with green.
