Yongjin Sung, the principal investigator, is an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). His multi-disciplinary training includes thermo-fluid science, optical imaging, X-ray imaging, and nuclear imaging. After BS (2000) and MS (2002) at Seoul National University, he worked as a research engineer at Hyundai Motor Company for five years. After PhD (2011) at MIT, he worked as a Post-doctoral Associate at MIT, worked as an Assistant in Engineering (Instructor) at the Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School), and joined UWM in 2015.

Hamid Hasani is a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering. He received his BS (2015) in Mechanical Engineering from K. N. Toosi University of Technology (KNTU), Tehran, Iran. At KNTU, Hamid has developed machine learning tools to predict the performance of cooling systems. In Sung Lab, he is developing novel imaging systems for high-throughput non-destructive test, in-line process monitoring, and various biomedical applications.

Cory Juntunen is a MS student in Mechanical Engineering. Before joining Sung Lab, he worked in industry at an engineering consulting firm developing custom test fixtures and at an HVAC company developing controls systems. Cory is working on deep learning and 4D near-infrared imaging systems.

Mahan Mahdavi is a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering. She received her BS (2018) in Mechanical Engineering from Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran. Her research interests are optical imaging and its application to solid mechanics, materials science and biomedical engineering.
