Teaching Universally!

We love having a neuro-diverse group of young people. Some simple tips and tricks for teaching to a variety of kids are:

• Following a visual schedule.

• Using the whiteboard for spelling and lists. 

• Engage the five senses

• Allow for personal space

• Reviewing classroom covenant/rules.

• Allow the child to self select in/out of reading aloud and/or presenting.

• Positively praise kids for desirable behavior.

• Transition support. Giving a time warning before transitions help with smoother transitions. Example: you have 3 more minutes before we clean up and start the next activity.
