Hailing from Cairns/Gimuy in Far North Queensland, Sunday Mistake is known for their cathartic live energy, jangly instrumentation, and melancholic lyricism. Following the release of their debut single Mangoes in early 2026, the band has quickly begun making their mark on the Australian music scene.
"FNQ has entered the chat. A band finding their feet and showing heaps of potential as they do it." — Tommy Faith
Formed in late 2025 through their school's music program, Sunday Mistake are united by a shared passion for honest storytelling and the rush of live music. The lineup consists of Jasper Farnan (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Alex Pitkin (lead guitar/synthesiser), Amber Kukulies (bass guitar), and Sol Newman (drums/percussion).
Drawing from both nostalgia and the immediacy of modern indie rock, Sunday Mistake's songs explore the quiet victories and small tragedies of everyday life, creating emotional landscapes that resonate with audiences both on and off the stage.
Since releasing Mangoes, the band has received airplay on triple j and triple j Unearthed, and was featured in the 2026 Unearthed High Frequency program. With new music in the works and live performances across Far North Queensland, Sunday Mistake are only just getting started.
