We meet the third Thursday of the month at 1pm in the Morris/Nelson room at the Independence Center. When you attend as a member, please sign the attendance sheet and wear your name tag. Also feel free to bring something to drink. Our dues are $10 per calendar year. If you are interested in joining or have questions, please contact us using the email information, below.
The Independence Center also houses the Sun City Anthem Library. The honor system is used to check out books. The library’s collection includes fiction and nonfiction, puzzles, audio books, magazines, and hardcover and paperback books. Book donations are welcome but due to space constraints, only books published within the past 10 years are accepted. If you have a large donation, the Henderson Library System accepts materials and you can take a tax write off for your gift.
Places to Obtain Books
The Henderson Library system has books you can check out or receive on-line via Hoopla and Libby. The Book Club also has a program called Book in the Bag with the Henderson Library which facilitates obtaining some of the books from our reading list.
In addition to Amazon and Barnes and Noble, there are websites that are full of great book reviews, genre reading lists, and sometimes have links to free ebooks. Check hamiltonbook.com, pixelofink.com, BookBub.com, and ThriftBooks.com.
The scabookclub.com Website and Spirit Magazine
The books we read are recommended by the Book Club members. Each year, we publish the full list of the book titles. If you read a good book, please enter the information on the Hey! I read a good book page of this Book Club website for other members to enjoy. We use the good book list to select the next year's books. You will also find lists of past books our club has read on this website, and timely news in the Spirit Magazine.
